Perhaps the smaller bubbles will give it a nitro feel? A lot of folks will feel changing the beer at all is blasphemy. I would not buy one, but if someone had one at a party I'd try it - not on a good beer though.

And it's only 130 times as expensive!

An appliance that looks like a k cup machine and u put a hose from the top in the beer, close the lid and pour it like a tap beer.

Id like to try it. It seems cool, but they are trying to sell it also, i know how salespeople are. they have a larger one too that can be used for sizes up to 64oz growlers. If it actually works id honestly buy one as much of a gimmick as it seems. But theres something about having batteries and my beer so close together that i don't like.

And so to clean the "line" i assume u put a cup or something with a cleaning solution or soap or whatever and pass it thru the "tap"?

You can build a kegerator for less than that waytap costs, or buy one for not much more, and drink real tap beer. You can get a picnic tap for about $10.00 and drink real tap beer. I think PT Barnum would admire this product

Seems gimmicky. Not sure if it will add any value.

Reminds me of this, which I stumbled onto recently. Gave it a try and it was.... well gimmicky without any added value

Id try that to just because. gimmicks sell. But only until people get bored or realize its just a gimmick. I think there would be only a select few that would use it on a daily basis. Off topic, Im certainly no expert myself but the person said something about one of the best things about beer is how cold it is, id just like to mention that, that is a very subjective opinion.

More often than not I prefer it from the bottle anyway.

Sure, I'd give it a try at a party or wherever , but definitely not spending money on it....

Speaking of beer serving temperatures, now that I'm slowly transitioning to darker stuff for the season all I do is wait for the beer to warm up in at a bar.

Well, the BLS Inflation Calculator says $1 in 1949 is equal to $10.11 in 2016 dollars, so only 13 times as expensive (well, plus the cost of batteries  ).

Me, I prefer to base historic prices on comparisons with the cost of beer at the time. The common price of an 8-7 oz. glass of draught beer was 10¢ at the time, so the Keggy's cost was equal to ten beers down at your local tavern (well, 9 if you left the standard 10% on the bar, so a dime tip).

Or, off premise (say, down at Salamanca NY's South Side Market), that buck could get you 8-10 bottles of beer (@ $2.40 - 3.00 cs) - so, around a gallon beer (@ 25¢/quart).

Is this the first time Salamanca has been mentioned on BA?

Odd, lots of backers on Kickstarter.

I see no reason I would want to do that to my bottle of beer.

Hey Jess, do you have any background on Canandaigua Beer? Spent a lot of time at Roseland Park in Canandaigua as a kid, and also spent much time on/around the lake. Don't think I've ever heard of it before.

During that era, it was a brand of the Cataract Brewing Co. of Rochester, which closed in 1940. Genesee just torn the remnants of the brewery down to build it's new "Brewhouse".

Previously it seems to have been a label of McKechnie Brewing Co., in Canandaigua, which barely survived Prohibition - opening and closing in 1934. It looks like George Stein in Buffalo brewed a Canandaigua Beer in the late 40s .

Best known - by me, at least  - for Canandaigua High Hopped Ale, which a 1934 article noted was the strongest beer brewed in Rochester at 5.14% abw (so, ~6.4% abv)

I like to order a wheat or ipa at the same time as my porter or stout so that I can drink the lighter one while the darker one warms up
