I feel like I'm the in the minority but I'll usually pick up some of whatever else came in with the Grimm stuff. Its not the only good beer in the city and I like to show the stores that its not all I care about.

Agree completely, there is a ton of good beer out there. But for me about 99% of the beer I buy now comes direct from the brewery with a few exceptions, one of those being Grimm. Also, when I do go after Grimm I tend to be at work and I just don't have the time to browse around and see what else is on the shelf. I have store closer to my apartment that I stop in at once a week or so and browse. Like we all say, its a great time to be a beer drinker in NYC with all these options.

Agreed! Usually when WF gets their Grimm they always have some other new fresh beer too ie. Captains Daughter or new Pipeworks stuff so most of the time ill bite.

I don't think posting or not posting is any sort of business strategy, I think it is simply to avoid the annoyance of a barrage of phone calls. Places that are known to post get much less calls. I used to call good beer before they posted (sorry good beer), now they post and I no longer do. It works. If places that usually post stop, their phone will be ringing off the hook next release.

I'm sitting here trying to imagine how the lines would be on release days when Grimm has their own place

I really enjoyed both these beers, but I won't be chasing either one around the city this time. And maybe not the next time either. With recent releases from other half, LIC beer project, Interboro, Rushing Duck, Sand City, Threes, etc it's gotten so much easier, and cheaper to get beers of equal quality.

it's going to be nuts and that is when i stop buying it. unless stores still carry it.

I can see it being like the Monkish release with their collab with Other Half. Lining up the day before. Hopefully they'll be able to pump out more beer and distribute more cases to each shop so you can actually buy a 4 pack with ease and not at a ridiculous price. I'd much rather buy a 4 pack at a store for less then $20.

4 cans for $36 is ridiculous. But some places mark it up even more to $12, so 4 cans for $48 is borderline illegal. I hate myself for chasing these beers to have a chance to pay an arm and a leg for them.

Yes, NYC has a ton of great beer now. They are not equal quality to Grimm IMO. Each brewery has beers that can hold up (Pile of Crowns, SFY, Full stack, SSMS, Mylar bags if they ever can it, off top of my head) but my personal opinion is that there are no cans/bottles out there right now in city that's same quality as LD or PW or any brewery that hits on such a large % of their releases. I will be picking some up, granted its extremely easy where I live (east village). We can all agree it's a good time to be a craft beer drinker in NYC. Not to mention HF is on tap somewhere at any given time.

I think it depends on the size of the brew house they are planning on. If they go 30BBL or bigger and brew into 60/90 BBL fermenters it should go pretty far.

I'm not singling you out, but this is the problem with rising prices. No reason not to continue pushing the envelope on pricing when people are running all over town like madmen just for the opportunity to pay $7+ retail per can. It's super convenient to have cans at home, and I grab them whenever my local place has them in stock, but it's so much easier to find Grimm on tap.

i think it all really depends on how big they go. look at how well scaling up has worked for trillium: great availability on amazing beers all the time. the only waits are on big time releases (i.e. Headroom).
