lol...has to be the only person not excited for the day when you don't have to go from store to store hoping they got Grimm in and it isn't sold out.

There's no justification for that kind of price gauging though, regardless of how hyped it is. Will people continue to pay it? Yes, because that's the only way to get cans. Does that make it okay? Absolutely not.

I wish I could just stroll into a bar and get these on draft as they are released, but my work life and married life don't allow me to do that.

i used to pay $9 per can with tax at 7th ave westside market. i stopped going there cause it's ridiculous.

I think its important to specify that thats the Westside location. The one on 2nd avenue is pretty reasonable.

Every month's Grimm thread is exactly the same.

I would actually argue it's easier to get cans now than ever before. Stop running around the city and just go to your locals. You have a better chance of finding what your looking for there than running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Enough of this FOMO stuff. There will be taps all over NYC (and LI) that will have all three of these DIPAs in the next few weeks in the event you cannot get cans.

That isn't price gauging. Singlecut cost $11 retail and $8 per bottle from the actual brewery!! Barrier is about $9 per bottle retail. Maine is about $10. When OH bottles hit shops occasionally they go for $12-15!! This is NY retail. Rents are extremely high, if bottle shops want to actually make money they have to mark up their products. Grimm is not marked up more than any of the other local breweries, and is much cheaper than the other great local stuff to hit retail.

I'm gonna chime in again because I couldn't disagree with you more. Last release I was only able to score a can of afterimage without "running around". This stuff is all gone after work hours. My local shop, Carmine St Beers does their release at noon and post about it so thankfully, I got a can. This can be problematic though as those chasing as many cans as possible know they can get one last can, which in my mind, takes a can from locals. My other local shop is WF Tribeca where theres always a line within 5 minutes of posting. The guys hunting Grimm cans always rub me the wrong way here either by being rude or only buying cans. I agree with you about them being on tap everywhere, but Ive been collecting the cans because I like the artwork, so I'd like to keep one.

Love the artwork as well, been saving the wrappers that I cut off the cans. Any cool ideas on what to do with them? Laquered coasters (over tiles) has been done ....

    I know I'm in the minority, but if I don't get a can(s), then I don't get them.

I'm not gonna cry myself to sleep. I have about 4 locals in Manhattan that I go to on a rotating basis and if I go to one of them today and they have it, then great. I'm not going to melt my MetroCard running to all 4 stores, I can promise you that.

I never thought about cutting the wrappers off, great idea! I've been taking the lids off the cans and using them to hold pens, paintbrushes and the like. I supposed you could frame a bunch of them together to if you're into that kinda thing.

Right, I see peoples frustration though. At this point we pretty much know Good Beer and such will be getting them this afternoon (fingers crossed) and for those of us that cant dash out of work, I get that they'd be disappointed. Its the same situation with WF tomorrow, this stuff doesn't sit around until after work hours.

I gotta say this is said about taps every month, but a lot of bars have their keg kicked the same day it gets tapped. Compared to the connivence of having cans in my fridge I don't think it's a better option.

Not to mention the fact that on-tap and growler fills wind up costing roughly the same amount of money per ounce as the supposedly overpriced cans.
