Yeah, I think they thought folks would be turned off by the floaties, which are pretty substantial in Heady. Tried it first from the can, it was fine, and poured it into a glass. A can-shaped glass would be a good compromise!

They were randomized and marked by somebody else prior to sampling. But in this case, it was actually easy to tell once the blindfold was removed- one glass was noticeably clearer than the other.

I only did that experiment after previously noticing that my swigs from the last ounce or two in a can were not as enjoyable as what had been poured into a glass. After putting it to the test, I knew which was the best way for me going forward.

HAHA Agreed. Just because someone is a brewer doesnt mean they know everything.

I drink all my big beers out of the can. I don't think a moderate pour and exposing it to air helps any beer. I usually drink bottled beer out of a glass , maybe not with th odd AAL.

Here's another variation on the blind test that you might find useful if ever interested in doing blind test in a different way or in setting up one for friends, etc.

The blog post does a good job of both explaning the Triangle test and illustrating some of the results that can emerge (e.g., saving one's self a bit of money).

While I don't suspect you'd find different results from the test you did, it's a different take on how to do a blind test, and one that is favored by the folks who do research on sensory science.

When I sneak one into the movie theater or pull one out of my pack on a hike, it's out of the can. Otherwise, pretty much always out of a glass.

Enjoying one from a can. It is ---------- good. Why waste the glass. If you need a glass, send me the can unopened

16 oz of 8% alcohol? That would be impressive. Maybe in my prime...

    Complete bullshit.

Had tons of it. Like almost every other beer, a glass at every opportunity. The can when no glass available.

If not printed on the can (and on no other)--no one would give it a thought.

I always drink these beers lying down with my feet slightly elevated by a pillow (usually purple). My friend who is always Korean pours it slowly down into my mouth making sure to touch my top lip first and then cascade like a waterfall over my two front teeth and down on my toungue and into my mouth. Any other way is ridiculous (I'm looking at you bottom lip, under the toungue method)

Done both many times from these beers. And I caught some shit on BA for pouring it into a tulip. But no doubt in my mind it's better in a glass.

Of course it is. I've never had heady. I have had enough sip and tree house brews to know that drinking out of a glass is the way to go. Your nose plays a huge part in flavor. I'm sure that this is particularly true with excessive dry hopping. When I do finally score some heady it'll be consumed from a glass.

There are some brews that I don't mind out of a glass. Its rare that I don't find it to impact flavor. I highly doubt that the og ipa of the style is one of the rare exceptions.

If it weren't printed on the can there wouldn't be any question. What do you do with the rest of your beers?

Drink Focal from the can so you don't have to look at all those sea horses swimming around in your glass. But seriously, if you don't pour it into a thin rimmed tulip you are missing out on half of the experience! besides doesn't everyone know by now that aluminum causes alzhimers?! NEVER DRINK FROM OR COOK IN ALUMINUM!

All that being said, if you still can't decide what to do, just send all your Alchemist to me. :-)
