I too snagged some Stratus today from Capones, canned 9-16-16. They had quite a bit left as of 8pm for those of you on the north side or willing to make the trip, but based on how Cumulus kept popping up I assume Stratus is going to filter out through the market over the next week.

I happened to come across some Juice Pants today. I am sure it is well past its prime...lol. If it were a real NE IPA it would be. I might just give it a try.

Exact same here. Tasted ok, looked clear and very thin. Meh

People have their own preferences and opinions, but for me personally if you want to have the closest thing to the NE IPA/DIPA, go to the Juicy release at Ram Schaumburg on Oct 1.

(glad this thread exists... A bit late to the party).

I plan on it. Mikerphone & Transient are killing it but a lot of people I respect are really talking Ram's up...

I'd love to get up there, but my garbage brother decided to have his wedding that day, so that ain't happening.

Also, regardless of how good it is, it's hard for me to get too excited for an IPA I have to drive up to Schaumburg for.

My current plan is to go to the release, so if you want to give the beer a try, just shoot me a note and I can hook you up with some....we both know I probably won't like the stuff anyway.

Schaumburg can be a pain if you live far since there really isn't much else there. But I live in the burbs so I have the opposite sentiment. For once I'm glad it's not in the city because for me that's usually the deterrent. I barely mustered up the motivation to drive in to get Beer Hates Astronauts and GDDC when those releases happened.

Hah, you got me there! Okay, will do.

That's totally fair; from a selfish perspective I want everything in the city, but yeah, I suppose we should all share.

This sounds like an interesting release I might be up for. I too dread the suburbs but if I get motivated to go (its a difficult prospect i know), i can bring some back to the city for people.

I'm around Plainfield, but I'm thinking I may have to make the drive up to Schaumburg for this one. I'm dying for more beers like this in our area. I love the Mikerphone beers in this style, but they are getting to be a huge pain in the ass to get. I grabbed a 4 pack of Stratus yesterday, and while very good, it was nothing like a NE IPA. It was copper colored, clear, pretty bitter, and pretty dry. I thought the body was decent, but not the smooth creaminess that a Trillium or Tree House beer has. Reminded me of something more like Three Floyds or Surly would put out.

Also, it sounds like distro for the new Hubbards Cave IIPA begins on Monday. V4 has Simcoe and Mosaic

I've been eagerly awaiting that one; hoping it has more carbonation than the last batch of V1. I'm optimistic about mosaic in that beer (and simcoe goes well too, I think).

Me too, while I liked the flavor of their last batch, it was definitely undercarbonated. I'm really optimistic about Simcoe and Mosaic in it, if they added Citra in there it would be almost perfect to me!

@Brams17 and @SeanBond Im sure this batch will be just awful. No need to be excited or even seek it out. Ill take one for us all and drink it ...

This. I sent 1 of the last batch to my friend in New York. He really liked the taste, but echoed what I thought on carb - it was so off it takes away from taste.

He's huge into the NE IPA trend at the moment - he got me into Tree House over the summer, and tends to poo poo the Chicago attempts (except Hey Ya) we tried when he visited. Point is - he actually liked the taste, so I think they have a really good potential if they get that carb fixed...

Any RAM Juicy followers have any idea if this 10/1 release will last to the following weekend (10/8)? Coming down from Michigan.

Id find it extremely hard to believe 600 people (what Shaun said he has allocated) will show up to this release. And thats including the guys dragging their girlfriends/wives along for the ride to double up.

Had probably 250-300 people at the Side Note release - so would agree. Though plenty of people got back in line (a few of them double dipped). That could make it tricky as I doubt they have any way to monitor this.

Also - there's a thread for the Juicy release so it may be easier to find info from someone there who may not be following this thread.

Any thoughts on Hailstorm Nimbus or Prairie Madness? Hubbards Cave Fresh IPA? Not sure if these are all NE style just some beers I came across the other day.
