I would assume they'll keep rotating the hops, if indeed the two batches used different combinations. Maybe they'll stick with mosaic and rotate the other two? That could keep the same "core" going; who knows.

edit: I decided to email Half Acre to see if they could lend some insight, because I'm a nerd. We'll see what they say.

Please keep us informed with what you hear. I've liked certain versions of this beer a lot more than others, so I'm on the edge of my seat. I may have to go pick some up tonight.

Had 9/13 cans for the first time the other night (previously only had Navaja on draft last year). I was kind of taken aback by how good it was. The aroma was outstanding and I thought those mosaic hops really jumped out. Even at $14.99, I'd buy these again if I see them fresh. Much like N.v.U, you gotta be careful with these on a weeknight though!

Update from HA: Both batches of Navaja have had the "same hop bill," Mosaic being the "lead" hop (dunno what the others are). They say any differences in taste are due to them constantly trying to improve the taste of the beer through differences in fermentation schedule and the like.

So basically, sounds like people who liked the batch that they had (no matter which it was) should be fine.

I'm also glad that Untappd and other sites are incorrect on the hops being different, as I was starting to doubt my mouth!

    Email from Half Acre:

Thanks for the email and positivity towards our beer. Those two batches of Navaja had the same hop bill across the board. We’re constantly tweaking almost everything we make though, so there could have been some subtle differences in process on the hot side or with fermentation. Thanks again!

Yup, that's basically what I got, too. They were probably like, "those BA dorks are at it again!"

Maybe the guys at HA can update the description on here/untapped. I would assume the beer branding and recipe is most likely locked in at this point.

    This page was highly entertaining.

I'll have to grab another pack of Navaja - the first batch was solid, but nothing mind blowing. Sounds like they've got it dialed in now though.

The only canned Navaja I've had was the 8/30 batch (or thereabouts), and I thought it was delicious. would definitely buy again.

I've had 8/30 and 9/13 and they are both ridiculous. I can't believe this is going to be year round - yay, beer.

Yup, I was excited as soon as they announced it, and even more excited once I tasted this batch, and decided it also merited a purchase year-round.

Your excitement about a high abv 4-pack explains why you guys (Stormtroopers) have such bad aim.

...Unless you're Han Solo, in which case I guess it explains other stuff.

Wait Navaja is year round??? Holy shit what a win. Will we see in distro regularly or only at their location?

Seems like it's been regularly for a while now. I think about 2 months ago they started, and it sold out quickly but the last few batches are staying on the shelves a little longer. Agree, as well - awesome to have this as a consistent option.

Does anyone have any idea if Benthic (without or preferably with coffee) ever makes it out at the taproom or potentially in bottles? I had it at the big north and it was delicious. I'd love to try it again

Had it last night at Sheff's. Guessing it's so small batch as to just make it to special events kegged. I know some ended up in CO for the GABF pre-events

From what I can tell, it'll be brewed maybe once ever 3 or 4 weeks. At least that's the pattern thus far. That might slow down a bit more nice the hype does down a bit.

But Navaja is here to stay. And that's a great thing. Between Half Acre, Pipeworks, and all the other up and comers, this city is so stacked with options it's almost unfair. It's getting to the point, where if your beer isn't world class, it's going to sell.

Well, I guess that's not true. But informed beeradvocates won't need to buy it anymore.
