My buddies that have sent in their refunds after me have already gotten their checks several weeks back and also in $100+ range, so I was pretty optimistic when they told me on the first call that I wasn't rejected and the check was already mailed, but I am no longer thinking that I will get a check re-issued even though that should be such a simple thing to do. Pretty clear it is lost in the mail, doesn't take that long to check if a check has been cashed when the check number is provided. I will give them a ring tomorrow since they said I should hear back by mid this week. Sadly preparing for the worse as I have been thru too many of these similar situations.

I really am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, as you jump on to day you got your refund in the coming month(s) watch and see how many people chime in to say their refunds were "lost" in the mail.

I will watch for that. If you think they're purposely not giving refunds for those with valid reasons, I will again say that I think you're reading too much into it. Don't forget that when things go well for a process like this, most people don't post about the positive experience. People are much more likely to post about a negative experience.

I also am skeptical you could find a correlation between those not receiving refunds and the dollar amount they requested. I realize some will not get refunds due to an imperfect process, but I think it'll be widely spread across all dollar amounts.

Anyone have a list of the bad dates? The site (http://gooseisland.com/bcs-refund) no longer appears to have them, and I'd like to verify that bottles I'm buying aren't from those dates.

i'd exercise caution if i were you. mine aren't in the dates GI declared affected, but the contents exhibited a distinctively sour aroma. from what i understand a decent chunk of people have experienced similar (bad bottles with "good dates".)

    Goose Island Bourbon County Bile!

I'm not interested in wasting any more of my time reading over hundreds of posts for this crap. Anyone have the cliff notes? Do they pay for me to ship the bottles back and how much do they refund per bottle?

I bought 12 bottles and was happy to fork over $15 a bottle after looking everywhere for this "unicorn beer". After so much anticipation I finally opened 2 bottles with a friend last night and was looking forward to sharing the experience. What a disappointment, the sour taste I experienced can only be described as bile. My only consolence is I have a case of Central Waters bourbon stout I paid $3 a bottle for.

What really sucks is I gave 3 bottles away as gifts so I'm out $50 already and now I feel bad that I gifted someone bile in a bottle.

Bottom line. You're too late. The refund window has closed.

I suggest you take what you've got back to the store and see if they will do anything. They owned and sold you the stuff.

There's a refund window? I'm going to call GI and if that really is the case they will never see a nickel from me again.

Yes there was a refund window and it has closed. You can verify that by looking at their web site or doing a bit of digging either online or in this thread.

Edit: Opened in mid-July and closed in mid-September. Here's a bit of reporting on it.

You would be post probably 215 with that sentiment.

It is the case. Report back their response. My guess is "t@#$% s$%^ Sherlock."

This thread has been alive for MONTHS regarding the possible issue and since July for refund with on brief periods off the board.

Pure genius... you should be un charge of naming their next garbage offering!

The last time I bought anything from GI was when they released "rare"... then they sold to inbev.

I have mailed checks my whole life, some in the amount of thousands of dollars, and none have been lost in the mail, and none were registered or certified. With a $75 refund for beer being the subject, I relied on the integrity and efficiency of GI the same as any other institution. I can easily live with it if folks think I am butt-hurt or stupid; GI and I have saved the the unpleasant future exchanges of product and money. It's simply a situation of mind over matter. I don't mind, and they don't matter. Cheers.

i don't think you are "stupid" etc & i'm not going to doubt the success you've experienced. i would've exercised the extra insurance measures for a couple of logical reasons. this saga has indicated GI doesn't appear to be very organized or efficient. i'd want to insure against that inefficiency. let's be honest, the US Post Office also isn't at the top of the public's index of perceived efficiency either. this process required dealing with 2 tiers of potential integrity issues. for me it makes sense to hedge against that -- especially if i am going spend my time doing the whole Hobby Lobby project correlating tags, photos, matting with glue sticks etc. etc.:astonished:

personally, i think you are very lucky. back in the day, i did some seasonal work for the PO for extra cash. my observation was the BCS that ran "FIM" mail (mostly bill payments with checks) sucked up & spat out 40K envelopes per hour. a generous estimate in the PO's favor is that the machine miss-sorted 500 of those 40K per hour (pretty sure the number averaged quite a bit higher than that). on the said mail run it's blatantly obvious as the errors occur because the local/regional destinations will have individual stackers dedicated to a single business address/billing center. so. PG&E's black & orange envelopes stand out like crazy when miss-fed to the stacker that's a sea of blue & dedicated to Chevron/Standard Oil. that's just describing a single common occurrence and erred interaction between 2 of the 80 or so stackers collecting the 40K feeds on a single machine /hr. & that's not factoring in the occasional pieces the machines chews in the belts & damages beyond normal delivery.

Got a call back this past Tuesday telling me that they got the wrong zip code on the envelope and that the mail bounced back. They resent it out and I finally got my check today. Took awhile and a hiccup along the way but happy to get a refund that will just go right towards the 2016 BCS lineup!

If legal, PayPal-ing refunds for infection should be the route for the next large brewery that has this issue.

Worth noting that at the start of this there were many folks who read the complaints about BW and Coffee and said it was unsophisticated palates misidentifying the normal flavors in the beers.

Then there were many people saying same things about folks identifying problems with regular.

Then there were those who said, after it became obvious there were problems, that it wasn't an infection, that it was some kind of off flavor that had nothing to do with infection. ABI didn't use the word infection even though the off flavors were obviously those of an infection.

Then after that there were those who blamed ABI for being too cheap to do testing.

Then there were those who said ABI would not offer refunds.

And then there were those who predicted that ABI wouldn't fix the problem and said they wouldn't be buying Bourbon Counties again.

Of course, I argued against every one of these points above, due to I'd seen this before with other breweries.

Hopefully if you were one of these people described above you have used this as a learning process.
