The 6-bottle set with two glasses is retailing for $85 plus tax.

According to a Shelton Brothers rep, the company is handling duties for the Western U.S. allocation and, as of last week, was waiting for word on that shipment. The rep didn’t provide any information on the Eastern U.S. allocation shipment.

Cant believe nobody posted this yet, I signed up just to make this post, I know I've been asking my beer guy for a year now about these boxes so I'd imagine some of you are about ready to pull your hair out to get your hands on a set.

$85 is taxing though, and as many people have said, St. Bernardus is more original to the original recipe and also tastes better.

the 2 euros per bottle is so much more appetizing when you are only 90 minutes away from the abbey

These have been on shelves in Calgary for a while now. I don't think they are selling well, the price started at $85 and is now $65.

Would love to try maybe a bottle the 12 but forking over 85$ for six is too rich for my blood Having had the 8, must admit to being disappointed. Much preferred the Rochefort IMO.

Hey papat, if you ever cross the border into VT and are interested in trading me some Heady Topper, I could send a bottle or two of Westy 12 your way...

$85 for six is rich, but I was expecting it hit more around $100 due to rarity. I won't be surprised if it is retailing mroe around $100 when (if) it gets to AZ. I'd buy it and try one or two (I mean its constantly ranked near the top in worldwide beers of any style no matter where you look even though I'm sure a lot of that is hype) then just use the rest for trades, and I'd have some sweet Westy glasses.

Yeah its all over the place here. The co-op liquor store downtown has a 5 foot tall pyramid @ $65/ea.

Did a side by side of Westy 12 / 8 & Rochefort, just 2 guys... 8 was the best, Rochefort the next, then the 12. I like 12 older I think, having had it before

Once again like Cantillon you can walk in good Alberta stores find the product sitting on the shelve. Co-op had the Westys in flyer last week for $65.99. Alberta is an odd market for sure. Next time your stateside at a beery place say there are stores in my province that have Westys, Tilquin, Cantillon, Drie Fountain and aged Black Alberts and see what the response is. Then answer no,no it is true one grocery store chain even Westys in weekend flyer on sale. :astonished:

Having just travelled through Belgium, I am one to firmly believe this is a beer you need to experience at In de Verde. I've drank it from multiple bottles in Canada, as well as from bottles in Belgium. I noticed the most difference in the bottles that were traveling a long distance. Would I pay $65.99 for a 6 pack of Westy 12? Nope. I'd rather put the money into a savings jar and make the trek. It's cheap if you do it right. I flew return for $700, paid $25 a night for accomodations, and $10/day for the bicycle I rode not only to the abbey, but to Struise Brewery as well in the next town over. All in one afternoon. That my friends, is much more worth it than a $65 or $85 six pack of Westy 12. The scenery is amazing, the locals are insanely friendly and the beer is just that much better fresh. Just saying.

Been there done that without the bike though and agreed although the one time we went the B&B hop farm we stayed at had bikes. You may missed one of the best sites or experiences there make that two. A three hour lunch at the Hommelhof in Watou is a must spitting distance from Westvleteren, St Bernardus and Van Eecke and a stay at the St Bernardus Brewers House B&B. In de Verde is cool but the times I have been the place was loaded with tour buses of Germans. Last year the boys at Struise treated us like royalty which was pretty cool. In the area there are tons of great breweries De Dolle Brouwers, De Ranke and the list goes one of the best parts of Belgium for sure that is why it is dubbed the brewers corner of the country.
