Today we're bottling....an imperial sweet stout aged in cognac barrels? Well that sounds tasty. As for when we will release it: no idea! Stay tuned!

Somebody help me understand why a bottled beer wouldn't be distributed. Does that mean it's just for the local market or just for purchase in the brewery? And are the two guys above who think it won't be distributed correct or we're just guessing?

A barrel-aged beer that only makes it into ~1,000 bottles can't be distributed too far. And since they can sell out of it in about a week at the brewery, they have no need to distribute it anyways.

How do we know it's ~1,000 bottles?

Because we're talking about a one off and/or random release from CCB. If it's not on the yearly schedule, it's a very small release and brewery only. Also, outside of the Campeador line, CCB hasn't ever sent out a BA beer to distro(and even then, the Campeador line are only sold at Knightly Spirits and don't last the day). Many/most breweries don't have enough space and/or barrels to do giant batches.

    Also, gunhaver works at CCB.

Don't forget that CCB is insanely popular in our state.

When the notification of your reply popped up in my Gmail Notifier window, I thought for a microsecond it was one of the zillion emails Letspour.com sends me to advertise their specials and I saw "BA Sweet Stout" and was like I'M NOT GOING TO MISS THIS ONE! You know how it is with rare stuff on Letspour - gone in minutes as you're filling out your address in the form. Ah, the pain when I realized it wasn't from them. C'est la vie, c'est la bière.

Then maybe later on you, me, Leon, Cognac Impy Sweet Stout, Oude Tart, and some other characters can get together

If only they would announce these releases on a Friday so the rest of us from around the state could get there on a Sat. to relish in these delicious treats. Oh CCB, why you so cruel?

Even though Leon was released on a weekday (wed.) it was still around on the weekend and the following Monday. This to me actually is a good release method for it allows locals and others a chance to pick up the beer without their being a madhouse release of a crowd (even regular weekends are getting a bit tight) and it should stick around so those who live a little farther away can make it by on the weekend to pick some up. This was also how Church-on-a-Hill was released and it lasted till Sunday as well. My only thought would be why not put a limit on how much per-person per-day so as to further allow more folks the ability to get some. I am not talking one bottle per person, but maybe 3-6 or somewhere around their. Just my thoughts.

Looking Forward to BA Imp. Sweet Stout being released this way as well so that it can allow a larger number of folks to acquire some.

there's still some Leon at the brewery in fact.

i think placing bottle limits works with beers that are going to for-sure sell out in a day (BA Hunahpu's, etc) and if there's a REALLY limited amount. with Leon, there's enough not to put a limit but not really enough to send any out
