Totally, effectively I think it's the same as stirring the foam without de-carbing the beer inside. Not something I'm interested in that's for sure.

Can one of the admins change the title of this thread to just "Fizzics" or "Fizzics Beer System"? Hopefully the current title hasn't mislead someone to believe that it actually carbonates beer.

Just got one of these delivered from Brookstone this evening. One Two Hearted into it and I'm very impressed. Made a bottle feel and taste just like draft.

My wife got this for me (bless her heart) for Father's Day and I have used it a few times. I like it for when I dome a bomber cuz it will keep it chill and will save a trip to the fridge. On the other hand, it's a little inconvenient to haul it out and then clean it afterwards. As others have said it will be very nice for growlers, especially on a hot Summer day on the deck. But for just sharing a bomber or pouring a can or 12 oz bottle, I'd rather not go through the trouble. Overall, I do like it. Although I don't do the whole "pull forward for the pour, and then push back for the head" thing. You can really flatten out your beer that way. If you a partake often in growlers, this would be a good investment. Cheers!

So my wife asked me this morning if I want the Fizzics beer system for Father's Day this morning, I said "What the heck is THAT?!?. As I was already skeptical before even knowing what it is. I said "sounds like some gimmicky bullsh*t to me" So there I am for the next 40 mins or so reading everything I could find on it from Cnet reviews to forums and it just made me more curious. It can improve the flavor and/or enjoyment of beers?! I found that indeed may improve the flavor of certain types of beer but might round off some bitterness of some very hoppy beers. Okay whatever but it sounded like something fun to play around with. Oh and it is compatible with cans bottles and up to 64oz growlers...that last part was the one that got me. It is also insulated keeping your growler cold for 12 hours or with ice around it 24 hours. This is not only gonna be kinda fun to break out with company to do blind/not blind tastings but my growlers might have extended life over the weekend. Or at least I have the option. So anyway, fast forward three hours and my wife and I picked one up at our local target. It was pricy but it's a gift to me and I farrkin deserve it. So here I am playing around with it and I picked a beer I've had before many times for a decent comparison.

And in a nutshell it is very much like nitro but it does feel like you are getting it straight from the tap. I did enjoy the beer as it was a soft fluffy mouthfeel and perfect head. But I can see this would not be a good thing to use for every beer. But that where I get to have fun from now on especially with sixpacks I can give this a whirl and actually have fun drinking beer. Because it wasn't fun already:rolling_eyes:

This was on Shark Tank last night, surprised more people not talking about it. In general sharks know nothing about beer, they jumped all over this. Don't understand why I would need this. If a hardcore beer geek doesn't need this, I would never expect a casual beer drinker to buy this.

So does anyone who has one of these still use it?

Had a dream last night that Bernie Madoff tried to sell me one of these ridiculous inventions designed to fit no need and solve no problem (other than the inventor's greed and lack of true innovation).

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] It uses sound waves ocisilation to agitate the existing CO2 in the beer, runs on batteries . Already out there for sale. Im stoked, trying to get it now before xmas runs out. Might be good for those out dated beers ive gotten burned on or could save u money for those reduced sale beers, dont care what anybody says , having a draft at home or draft tasting might be easier than fighting the crowded beer emporiums or buying a kegerator and drinking the same thing on draft over and over again.

My girlfriend got me one for christmas. I wasted a can of captains daughter in it. Needless to say it was immediately returned. I felt bad since she really tried hard to find something nice. The thing was just such a gimmicky pos that I couldn't pretend to like it. I gave it a fair chance. I was skeptical and it performed worse than I had expected.

I've had more than enough CD on draft to know that it didn't replicate that. Just made my beer taste flat. You could probably shake up a can and pour it really hard to replicate the fizzics experience.

I washed the crap out of it and it still imparted plenty of that plastic tubing flavor. I forgot about that part. I can't imagine anyone keeping it clean enough to not impart something on what you're putting through it.

So you pour your beer into a machine who then pours it again for you?!

    what...

Well, it shakes it up first!

Seriously iirc you open the beer. Then stick this hose in and I'm not sure how you're supposed to properly sanitize the thing being porous and all. Then it does a shitty job of sucking up the beer spitting it into a glass. The beer on nitro comparison mentioned earlier is pretty accurateish. I've never found a beer on nitro to be a step up from what I've had on co2. Then again I wouldn't call the nitro straight up flat like what comes from this gimmick.

This is SOOOO stupid. "Carbonates" an already carbonated beverage. There is no way it actually has carbonating capabilities. Breweries use a "carb stone" which has thousands of tiny pours that force CO2 into the beer, this thing probably just shakes it.

No, not probably. Thats exactly what it does. So plan on losing aroma. Thats what it did to my can of captains daughter.

One of my local breweries, Demented, uses this for their big bottles in the tasting room. They're constantly talking this thing up.

Forget the foam. If one created a similar contraption to turn my (archaic) 'clear' IPAs into the turbid IPAs du jour they'd be a bazillionaire. My instagram would look a whole lot prettier too. Call it the juice machine or something similar. Thanks in advance.

The jewel of this, what will make it a marketing success, is that people will see this laying around at Christmas and go "<insert name> loves beer, we never can figure out what to get him" and thus this will be the Christmas gift of the year. There is a site that reviewed this http://www.cnet.com/products/fizzics/review/2/ in my opinion he rated it too high, but he ran thru various styles and some proved better than others. Might be why Demented is using it on certain beers. Personally, even if it worked I can't put any more shit on my countertop or my wife will have my head. I have informed my significant others this isn't a good gift for anyone. When these things pop up I always bring it up in a conversation and talk about while it is a good idea on paper, it didn't translate well to a product. Better to head them off at the path before I find one wrapped under a tree. I am sitting here now looking at a UKeg64 and a Draftmark tap system under a desk.
