What your saying makes no sense in that your crossing into two separate things. Learning about history, religion, or anything of that nature is totally different. We are talking about people joining a place like BA that is focused on beer and its culture etc. Why would anyone who does not drink care to join, how does that better them or enrich them, why would they give a hoot about it? That is the debate at hand, learning about religion being a non believer is more a study in history and such, to me that is totally different.

Like an earlier poster said, that would be like joining a cooking class or forum when I don't eat? I love history, love learning about things, but that does not mean I had to be part of that history to learn it. We are discussing a place about drinking beer, etc. To me its a totally separate animal.

I have to say I don't understand your point anymore so I'm just going to leave it at that.

I was just comparing points of view on why someone would belong to BA who does not drink. My first point was that I did not see why they would join BA if they never drink, to me that made no sense. My second point was someone who did drink and was a part of the community still remaining even though they are not drinking now. That the latter of the two would be different since you have a history with the people here and would be more inclined to remain even being a non-drinker now.
Anyway not a big deal, was not looking to argue.
    Cheers

Cool, was not trying to argue either way really. If people love the history of beer and want to hang out here but don't drink that is cool with me, I honestly don't mind at all. I just enjoy the drinking part along with the community and culture of it all.
    Good chatting, take care.

Well, you just do as you wish and think as you wish. I am fine with your opinions. Simply said, one need not drink beer to have an interest in beer and other's opinions on all aspects of beer. If you end up not drinking some day (for whatever reason), I would bet that your interest (in beer) would not cease. My comment about Atheism and theology was (mostly) a joke.

I agree with that, I love the beer community and if I stopped I would hang around for old times sake. It is sort of who I am, been drinking for so long its just part of my nature I think. I don't hold anything against people who don't drink, that is their choice or if medical their issue, totally cool with it. Most of what I was expressing was just my view, if I never drank honestly I would not be here, that is just my nature. I love learning new things but mostly try to focus on things I do in life and learn more on those things. Like coffee, I love that as much as beer. I am now roasting at home and buying coffee from all around world to roast at home, its fun. Anyway, we all have hobbies and if non-drinkers want to hang out I say jump in and absorb the vibe.
    Cheers.

Come to think of it I suppose participation is not absolutely necessary, I've never been a contestant in a beauty pageant.
