Tired Hands (September 2016)

I hate the fact that I'm in the position to defend Tired Hands.
I agree that they have an elitist attitude about their "strange and wonderful beer" puke...
I agree that they don't give a shit about customer service.
I even agree that they have knowingly released crappy beer.

However - this beer is good. Everybody is entiled to their own opinion and I seem to be in the minority. But I can't help thinking this is the hype train in reverse.

 

I haven't had a MT can, but based purely on past track records as of late, I think it's not a stretch to believe those saying that this can is terrible. TH QA has been horrific this entire year in general. To say I'm disappointed is a huge understatement.

I'm not certain what is going on with Jean and company, but they need to right the ship.

I remember going to the Brew Cafe back in 2014, and even the Ferm in mid 2015, and being absolutely blown away by almost everything on tap. Now, I'm lucky if its two.

 

The problem is there is no incentive for them to right the ship. People line up for the beer pay $22 for a 4 pack and it all sells out. Hopefully this will be the tipping point and people protest with their dollars.

 

Underripe and poor quality mango can be bitter. Possible it was just rushed when the product was bad from the start?

 

This is 100% true. I used to fill every growler and wish I had more, now I never do. When you're charging a premium price you better be delivering premium product.

 

I went and got a full lot of both. Haven't opened the Mago yet but I just cracked a Pineal and it's insanely delicious. You could pour this for me and tell me Trillium brewed it and I would believe you.

 

The cans must be inconsistent then. Like I said earlier, I've had many of their cans and this has an off-taste I have not had before. I don't think it even tastes like Mago Tago has tasted in the past. If you had the beer before, do you think your can tonight was similar or very different?

 

Just read that that someone spoke to the front desk at the Ferm and they are offering refunds.

 

If this is real, kudos for doing the right thing. I'm holding out until it's confirmed.

 

The last Pineal release was one of my favorite cans so far. Wish I could have got some this time but they were out by the time I got home.

 

Remember when you ask for refunds to include the cost of parking, gas and your time.. because it is valuable xD

 

Pineal is by far one of my favorite cans that is actually very consistent. As far as Mago goes...c'mon guys..take the High Road... (Sarcasm).

 

Got two cans from my buddy before along with two clourison. This mango is pretty awful. Glad I didn't go there myself for the release. Have higher hopes with the bottles. I expect to see a ton of mango up "for trade" shortly.

 

Have to love all the people posting on TH Instagram looking to trade or sell at cost. Saw one post of someone trying to trade for Fou Foune or Lou Pepe. This stuff brings out the worst in the beer world.

Why would they bother releasing such a subpar batch? They must have tasted it before canning, and it's not like people weren't going to notice...

 

So are they actually giving refunds?

 

Refunds are one thing, nice step in the right direction. I haven't tried it, but if it's as bad as people say they need to respond to this. I frequent this place and I'm sure everyone wants to know what happened. If they knew this batch was bad and canned it this way, I have a major problem with that. That would tell me a lot about what they think about us, knowing some people go way out of their way for this beer.

 

Am I the only one that really wants this to see how bad it is? Hopefully they can fix this situation.....

 

Had a Mago last night after it sufficiently cooled. Never had it on draft before! I loved it! Def has a mango taste. Def has a bitter finish but what did you expect it's a big hoppy IPA.

The bizarre comments on their social media channels make no sense to me, espesh when people go apeshit over the milkshakes and key lime which to me are kinda gross (sweet beer with added sugar = instant headache.)
