While visiting my LHBS I jokingly mentioned lobbying for an addendum to Murphy’s law to include that when taking a gravity reading, the scale on a hydrometer always faces away from you. Others in the store laughed out loud with agreement and experienced this at a rate that makes it feel there’s more to this than a random event. Has anyone found a method of having the scale reliably face the viewer?

On a related topic; during my brew day ritual, there’s a relationship between the quantity of samples consumed from previous batches and the lack of clarity of the numbers on the hydrometer scale.

    Cheers!

Get a small circular table, so you can go round the table to spot where the scale has stopped.

Maybe turn them back 90 degrees before you drop it in!
