That Rhubarb Zwanze from 2012 was and is still an incredible beer.

I've always wanted to check out Zwanze at WLV, but have been turned off by the size of the venue, and the price (lambics aren't my favorite, so the price tag of the ticket isn't incredibly appealing). Based on the comments here about how customer service has been handled in the past, I guess I'll continue the tradition of being on the outside looking in.

I've been tempted to give it a go the last couple years, but coming in from the suburbs I would have to jump on like a 645AM train to get up there by 830ish. And yes the price forces me into a choice between Zwanze or FOBAB.

That would definitely not be a choice for me. FoBaB every time! One of my faves of the year.

I was at Zwanze day last year at WLV. My biggest issue was not enough water, but beyond that, I had a great time. Unlimited pours of some great beers, I met a bunch of fabulous people sharing bottles, and overall had a great time. Merit the venue is small, but that's why I enjoyed it. It wasn't wall to wall bodies where you couldn't move or get a drink before the line blew. I'll definitely try to go back again this year.

Any reason for this? Every time I frequent the store I get treated well; however I have been noticing a decent amount of employee turnover. I like the store and you can always find something new there (except in the 50/50 eclipse section because that shit don't sell)

I went last year to zwanze day at wlv and it was a blast. I believe they were selling tickets that day, but at a slightly higher price and it was announced last minute. Unlimited pours and food was worth the high price point. The only issue I had was that you were only able to buy one ticket at a time. So if you wanted to bring anyone or go in pairs of two you needed to have everyone try and get tickets at once.

Yes. I really dislike how she does business. She whines to every beer rep and distributor that doesn't put her first for everything, and she plays favorites with her customers. Not a fan.

    100% true.

I don't get super pissy about people playing favorites (since it happens everywhere), but it's extra blatant at WLV (or was when I was going there).

Was it outside last year like the previous year? I wasn't able to make it.

Not sure what they'll do if it pours like it is supposed to.

The previous years when they were able to use the bar across the street was the best.

If the format remains the same as last year's, the event will be held entirely in the backyard and "parking lot" of WLV. Nothing inside but bottle sales, and nixed the bar across the street.

    Whelp.

Fuck WLV. I'm done with that place. Had a good time, but I'm very happy to spend my money elsewhere.

How'd the rare bottle sales go? Or everything else for that matter

It was a good time. It was fine.

But for $85 (or $170 for 2, which is what i paid), I can have a great time at any cool beer bar in the city.

Or buy a ton of cantillion from bib, bottle share, and have a pig roast with friends.

The bottle sales were a shit show. I get no one is entitled to anything, which I actually love, but actively treating customers like shit who are begging to give you money is other thing.

Because nobody else wanted to buy bottles available. If you wanted to cut to the front and buy a 3F intense red, you could.

Another great event. Multiple pours of all loons. Bottle sales were a crap shoot sure. But Zwanze is about drinking great beer, not about buying bottles.
