Grabbed a sixer of Kind Ale yesterday, had it at the brewery last year, but the first bottle I opened was Kind-a weak. Less hop flavor than a session and I was a little bummed. Then I opened a second and it was way better, tons of resiny hops that lingered for a while. curious if anyone else is seeing this also.

If you're near Livonia, there's a shop that had two full cases and a couple sixers sitting out tonight.

Nope tasting great. Slammed 4 the other day, the 2 more the day after. Every one was beautiful.

    Agreed,

Had two both last night and the night before - all four have been consistent. Nice fresh hop aroma stood out and a good wet hop flavor! It's a mellow drinker, but this has been my experience with wet hop beers.....

Drinking my first right now, and it's better than I remember. Smooth, resinous, sweet, floral, and just a touch bitter.

The last 4 were solid, one left.
I dont know what happened with me and the first one, possibly drank it so fast I sent all those hop resins straight down the hatch. The next two were back to back and those lingered for at least an hour after. Thank you Short's.

Not a whole lot. We've wanted to bottle it for quite some time, though.

Never had Bourbon Huma. What's the hop profile like on it after it's spelt time in the barrels (and how long does it sit in them for)?

Announcement hit the FB page, it'll be limited quantities later this month.

I had the same question. Reviews I've checked out mostly seem to say the same thing: the hop profile is well intact, with a smooth, bourbon warmth added to the mix. Don't know how they manage keeping the hop profile from fading during aging, but folks have said it's still there.

The day I've been waiting for is here!

    From the website:

"If you’re thinking to yourself “Damn, there just aren’t enough varieties of Short’s brew available to me,” this is the release for you! Over the past couple of weeks we’ve quietly released three draft only brews to Michigan restaurants, pubs, and taprooms. PUMPKINCRUSHA, Lil’ Creepster, and Richard in the Dirt are now ready for sipping.

PUMPKINCRUSHA (6% ABV – 35 IBU) is a seasonal blend of pumpkin, spices, and carefully formulated ale. Brewed with real pumpkin and spice, aromas of pumpkin pie are apparent. The ale is a light pastel brown color and comfortably consumable.

Lil’ Creepster (6.2% ABV – 9 IBU) is a Gose brewed with lemongrass, sea salt, coriander, orange zest and apricot. Lil’ Creepster is cloudy with a muted orange hue and a solid head retention. This Gose has an inviting, yet complex aroma of apricot, citrus, and the distinct saltiness typical of a Gose. The flavor is tart, but balanced. Citrus notes are detected first and remain present followed by a saltiness that is accompanied the flavors of lemongrass and coriander. Lil’ Creepster is light-bodied with a clean and salty finish.

Richard in the Dirt (9% ABV – 45 IBU) is a Belgian Tripel with a bright copper glow and an estery aroma of subtle green apple and a hint of spice. A complex spiciness increases in intensity towards the finish. Malt flavors take a back seat to the sweet sugary additions of Belgian candy sugar. Hop flavors are subtle while spicy yeast qualities provide an offset to sweeter flavors found up front.

Available in limited quantities on tap ONLY, these three brews are now ready to fill a pint glass near you!"

Personally, I'm very excited for the Richard release.(Heh, as @HopHeadHerman knows) Tripels are my favorite style, and I've missed Richard at the pub by just a hair at least two times now. Having seen what Short's has done with their other Belgian-style ales has whetted my expectations.

Time to bust out Beermenus and find out where they're all at!

    Couple things:

Per the FB page, Short's will announce the Guess the Dry Hop Local's in two weeks. Someone has guessed correctly so far, but there's still prizes to be won. (Wrong or right, I guessed Mosaic.)

Here's to hoping Citra Local's sees another release, by the way.

Also, if anyone still hasn't gotten their fill of Kind Ale, Wine Palace in Livonia has quite a bit left, along with PGGB, and Dan's. The end cap stack is goddam mouthwatering.

I was torn. I ended up on Mosaic because it reminded me a little bit of Upper Hand's UPA, and that's Mosaic.
