You raise a good point with the ban, whereas a ban actually pretty much serves as a fourth rating (in a way).

I'm getting an overtone from several comments that a negative rating would be applicable for anyone that appears to blatantly abuse the system in any way (ya, sorry about the trade but we drank that shit....I'm looking for more now...), and neutral is for turtles or mutes that didn't protract the situation any longer than maybe a day or two past the rater's "comfort zone", which in itself is subjective. Like the difference on a credit rating between slow pay and missed payment?

I've BIF'd out a lot more beer than I've actually traded. I honestly haven't done a lot of trade seeking in general. Typically when I have traded, it's been more spontaneous, where I suddenly realized I couldn't live without something; or if someone sees me post a picture of a beer they'd like and I happen to have (or am able to get) more. Since I haven't had to deal with the problem of trades dangling open, I honestly didn't consider that the OCD side of me would totally freak out over that, but it's that same OCD tendency for closure that would have made me walk away from a trade sooner than the OP did.

Either way, I get your point and those who have done more trading than I have certainly should have dominion over intent with ratings. My only trades have gone smooth and happy, so I have no salt to speak of (with exception to a few BIF issues....but obviously rating isn't part of that).

This has been moved over to the *appropriate* forum, now that there has been some developing news.

It seems very clear from the conversation/text messages I read between @TheTruth and @Kevin-1989 involving this trade, that @Kevin-1989 just recently left *retaliatory feedback*. Everyone, please note the long delay in leaving feedback from @Kevin-1989

As we all know, or should know by reading the rules, this is grounds for *immediate* loss of your BA account or an *instant ban*.

Because we feel that people "sometimes" deserve a second chance to redeem themselves, I'm offering this option to @Kevin-1989

    Please read carefully:

    1) You've been tagged as a *Bad trader* for obvious reasons
    2) You deserved bad feedback for obvious reasons. Two wrongs don't make a right. By that, I mean leaving *retaliatory* feedback to your trade partner for your mishaps.
    (3) You have (72hrs) from this *timestamp* of my post to edit your feedback to *positive* or else your account is done. Pretty lenient and fair, considering your account should be done after what I've read and the *negative/retaliatory* feedback you blatantly left your trade partner.
    (4) Your feedback to @TheTruth will be:
"We set up an IP trade that I didn't follow through on because I drank the bottle I was trading."
    (5) You will post in this thread that the feedback has been changed within (72hrs). Nothing more, nothing less!
    (6) If you @Kevin-1989 veer from any of the above, your account is done.

    Respectfully,
    Dave

If he's banned good riddance, but I guess that he is done as a trader no matter what he does now.

I have made this suggestion before, but will again. One of the conditions of being a beer trader is having to have your profile visible.

100% agree. I don't like when I can't get a peek at a user's profile outside of their trading history.

Truth be told, Negative feedback should have been immediately removed by the mods...If he is trying to trade, someone could look at his last trade and consider him a bad trader (not out of the realm of possibility)... @Kevin-1989 should have been immediately banned...I agree !00% with @jrnyc about traders cannot hide their profile...

Truth be told ...As a moderator, if I could have removed the negative feedback from @TheTruth , it would have been done instantly.

Second, you are right..he should have been banned instantly. Instead, we (I) chose to see if he @Kevin-1989 could make his wrong...right.

On a different, but related note...if we as moderators followed everything to a tee, we could very easily remove 50% of the ISO/FT posts in the trading forums based on formatting alone..just sayin'

Anyways, in the end, the feedback will either be changed to positive by @Kevin-1989 or his account is done. Either way, the feedback will be adjusted for @TheTruth

    Cheers!

@TheTruth, what were the beers in the trade?

It's funny that you mention that because I did have an idea for a trade yesterday. I decided I should probably wait until this gets fixed for the simple reason I wouldn't want anyone to mentally note the fake bad trade on my feedback lol.

I also received a message from another trade partner on an open trade for this weekends Mornin' Delight release to make sure we were still on for it and that I was picking up bottles. I got nervous for a second that he had seen Kevins bad feedback and was nervous about it himself, but he was just checking to make sure I was still getting bottles and when we were going to exchange the them. We both had a good laugh about it.

All in all though, a few days isn't gonna kill me. Dave has been a great help and it's been an interesting conversation piece amongst fellow BA'ers that I hangout with in real life. I really do appreciate how tight this community is and how well they rally when someone has been wronged. I've been intrigued and read through bad trader threads in the past, but never thought it would happen to me. I'm just very thankful I didn't lose any beer like so many others have. You guys who show up regularly in these threads to put pressure on bad traders rock btw! Just wanted to say thanks!

(And the trade was just a pretty simple CD17 + some solid extras on my end for his Kentuckley + some solid extras on his end)

You've been crazy patient and are still gracious, OP. Good on ya. Hopefully this resolves in a positive way for you.

So...the time stamp referenced above was 11.36 PM on Sunday night.

Multiply by...carry the one...subtract...that means, 11.36 PM Wednesday night if my admittedly shaky math skills check out.

It's now nearly 12 noon on Thursday.

@TheTruth still has the same negative feedback posted from @Kevin-1989. Geez man, couldn't you even cut and paste what @dmbforever wrote?

I don't see any activity here in this thread (also required above) or elsewhere from @Kevin-1989.

A quick check of the latest activity from the profile page for @Kevin-1989 shows he was on Wednesday night at ~ 11.30 PM...no doubt waiting to feel the power of the banhammer. Guess we're a bit slow to act these days. :slight_frown:

@Todd can you do the honors? Make it part of some GABF festivity.

Edit: Hey @Todd please take a look at new user @Mugatu6969 registered last night around the same time that @Kevin-1989 was on and with an exact IP match. Hmmm.

We're all set here. Both accounts (Kevin-1989) & duplicate (Mugatu6969) are gonzo.

@TheTruth feedback has been cleaned up and back to 100%.

Appreciate everyone's input/ involvement in the matter.

    Cheers,
