My first TH beer. I remember it fondly, and still love the label artwork more than any other one of their beers.

I have found that there's a much quicker dropoff in lower ABV and lower hop content ales from Treehouse. Lights On, Eureka, In Perpetuity all must be consumed fresh - within ten to twelve days for me before it becomes apparent. For some reason, Julius and Alter Ego don't seem as susceptible to the quick aroma dropoff, and last a month or beyond. Beyond that, higher ABV beers seem to stick around aromatically speaking. Just had a Juice Machine last night, and it is juuuuust going over its peak, not quite as "all-together" as the one I had five days ago.

    In conclusion:
Drink your lower ABV / hop content beers before you consume the IPA/DIPAs. Some aging is good on these.

Definitely, if you're not just after the huge crushing DIPA aroma and mouthfeel.
Lights On and Eureka! are still my two favorite Treehouse beers.

Lights On doesn't taste like anything to me 75% of the time. Sometimes it's tasty, but subdued, and others, it's just nothing. Like, it feels like it should be a little sweet or sticky, like how Mosaic feels in the mouth, but no flavor.

I'm beginning to think it's genetic at this point because everybody so highly regards the beer. Kinda like how only some people can smell asparagus pee?

Wait, some people can't smell asparagus pee? That's really weird... defeats half the purpose of eating asparagus.

That's super weird man cuz that happened to me too. My friend brought me two cans of it about a year ago. I drank the first one right away and thought there was surprisingly not much to it. I drank the other one a significant amount of time later with low expectations due to the time factor and the disappointing first can and was surprised it was incredibly flavorful. Haven't had a chance to try it since.

The flavors in Lights On have always been pretty mild for me. I think that's just how it is, a subtle pale ale. I definitely prefer most of their other offerings over it

I have a couple cans left of the doppelgänger from 2 weeks ago, and it has dropped off significantly. First time that has ever happened for me with any TH offering in that short of time

Interesting. I thought In Perp dropped off dramatically. But the doppelgänger I had from that week actually tasted better 1 week out than it did the day I had my growlers filled. Guess I didn't have one 2 weeks later though. Bummer. I'll have to see how my last can of green from that release tastes. Maybe just a volatile batch of everything.

How long do the milk stouts generally last in can? I have a few cans of All That Is... and wondering whether I age one.

i wouldn't age any milk stout, let alone one that the brewer recommends drinking fresh.... unless you are into chunky beer...mmm spoiled milk. :grimacing:
