It happened last year but probably had something to do with the list of beers they had announced for 2015.... too bad entitled people complained about beers on the list not being released even though it mentioned none were guaranteed. Would've been nice to have an idea on what's expected to be released throughout the year.

But it was the bomb!! I had probably 3 or 4 fills at the stone Brewing Festival this year. It should definitely be a regular release!

    LOL

The Bruery is a business attempting to market its clubs to prospective members, and one of the ways they chose to market its clubs was through a list of planned releases. If they fail to deliver on some of them - including highly anticipated beers like Mash & Coconut - do you honestly expect paying customers to just sit back and say "well, they tried their hardest"? Yes, they have CYA language to cover that scenario, but when you sell people based on a set of planned releases, it's not unreasonable to express frustration when those releases don't happen, especially in the context of their issues from 2013 - 2015.

To avoid that scenario, they're free to pitch the club as "we'll brew what we brew and we hope you like it," which leads to the following:
Do you honestly think you wouldn't be frustrated if you joined the RS because you were excited about certain beers, only to have them cancelled?

I know what you mean, but you just took a dump all over your argument by referencing the incorrect beer.

    1) Mash & Coconut was a planned beer in 2014, so I didn't say anything factually incorrect.
    2) Apparently, it's hard to keep track of all the beers they've screwed up and or cancelled over the past few years, judging by your failure to recall M&C '14...but please, tell me how that takes a dump all over my own argument.

People don't understand what it takes to age beer in a barrel. I'm not here to argue, but why would a brewery release a beer that tasted terrible?

I can guarantee that every brewer, cellarman, blender, etc. wants to release every beer they can, but if something ends up terrible, why release it?

And if you're going to say, "Well, they shouldn't tease the beer then." I have one answer: entitled society members. It's a vicious cycle, the complainers complain about not knowing what beers are coming up, The Bruery puts out a list to keep them satiated, then a few beers get infected/turn out terrible, then the complaining continues.

Honestly, if you feel that The Bruery has wronged you, stop buying beer from them, plain and simple. Sure, I'm bummed that Grey Monday is taking longer than it should, I'm also bummed about the Sour in the Rye switch, but seriously, do you want to buy subpar beer?

That ended up being longer than I thought it was going to be. Let's go back to beer. I opened a bottle of Chronology 24 over the weekend and I loved it.

So you made this assertion and then proceeded to provide no supporting evidence, nor context for it. I mean, I agree that most people are idiots and don't know how things work, but it's not a consumer's responsibility to worry about the Bruery's problems with barrel aging. They went balls to the wall without having their shit together, charged a top tier price the whole time, and customers are supposed to somehow feel guilty or give them a pass?

Based on empirical evidence (not necessarily the Bruery, moreso craft beer in general), shitty decision making, shitty QC, and good old fashioned ignorance are all reasons that this happens.

That cycle is exactly what I pointed out, except it's not a question of "entitled society members," as though the Bruery is a victim in all of this. They're a business, do you honestly think they shouldn't be held accountable when they fail deliver on their plans and promises? The whole society model is predicated on a consumer's belief that a brewery can follow through with their plans. Obviously there are still plenty of people who trust the Bruery to do so, but calling a consumer "entitled" for complaining about a decrease in value for a club they paid for due to cancellation of planned beers is beyond silly.

I'm not saying The Bruery is a victim, but what I do see is The Bruery releasing a slew of beers, some surprises, while people concentrate on beer X or beer Y.

Yes, I do know about barrel aging and its perils. Putting a beer in a barrel to sit for 6-18 months is a huge commitment. You can hope a beer turns out the way you want, but its NEVER a guarantee.

I think that you're twisting my words a bit. There are quite a few entitled society members that will bring up a beer from 3 years ago that was infected, so The Bruery must be terrible, but are still HS. I'm not specifically talking about you Xul, I'm just sayin'. Being upset at only having two tickets for this past years anniversary party, understandable, I was pretty upset about that, but being upset that a beer tasted terrible so they didn't release it is a little silly to me.

Also, when I had Sour in the Rye with Coconut and Pineapple, I was not impressed. I had it on tap the last time they had it, and it was getting that butyric acid profile that pineapple beers can have. I actually couldn't even finish my taster.

I think maybe it was a bit inconsistent. I loved the first bottle I had start of this year. Then over the summer I had one and it underwhelmed. Last month I had one and it was very tasty but also really hot.

Me too. Mine have been great, and I have another resting. I've not noticed any inconsistencies, but only had two bottles and a few tasters.

I'll also call myself out. KC should be CK.

I agree 125%. The PS thread is full of idiots confused as to why they can't use their newly purchased RS membership for 2017 a few months early. Why would you jump the gun and have absolutely no clue what you'e getting into? I mean, people asking about quarterly releases in RS and such, it really makes me wonder how many of these first timers just literally pulled their head out of their ass yesterday.

    That surprises me even more.

    /old timey rant

Back in my day, we didn't have discounts or access to the RS pours when you joined PS. Nor did you get access to 3 bottles of BT. We had to wait until the calendar year started and then we got something. Now you get access to all the pours (minus HS) as well as a 10% discount. So really, these people are crying over 5%.

This. This happens every year and it is absolutely my favorite thing ever. What do you mean the 2017 membership I paid for doesn't work for me now?
