Jackie O's (2018)

Any sightings of BA dark apparition or BA grand champion or BA or negro in the Columbus area?

 

Hey, welcome to Ohio. All of the Jackie O's barrel aged beers that are distributed are very limited quantities and sell out rather quickly. The only one I know of that will be available soon is Champion Ground, which I expect to move quicker than any other beer they've distributed this year. It's supposed to hit distribution this week.

 

Driving out to OH this Saturday and would love to get a bottle of each to try especially Ba dark apparition.

 

BA Dark Apparition was release back in the Spring or early Summer. I doubt there are too many stragglers left on retail shelves. The brewery didn't have any last weekend, either. BA Oro Negro didn't see distribution, and the brewery sold out last Friday. And as mentioned above, Champion Ground is hitting distro starting this week, but it will definitely move quickly.

 

Athens isn't too far from Columbus. If you have the time, I'd suggest driving to the brewery and picking up some Champion Ground and others. It's probably the easiest place to get them.

You could try to set up an in-person trade in the trading forum for when you're in Ohio. Someone in Columbus may be able to help you out with all three of the beers you mentioned.

 

Any comments on how the champion bottles are tasting so far? I had one last night, was missing that wow factor, light coffee, boozy, just didn't taste like last year for me. Wanted to fact check myself. Still good beer, and I'll get a few more, maybe my expectations were too high.

 

I'm wondering if the coffee gets stronger over time--I know that's not logical, but I saw some reviews of CG just before this new batch, obviously for older bottles, talking about how strong the coffee was. It seems after a year the coffee would fade but maybe this beer is a unique case.

 

at least for me, the 2015 batch hit its peak at about 5-6 months. Saving my 2016 bottles for late winter.

 

We all knew the "last year's was better" post was bound to happen.

 

I haven't had a bottle yet, but the couple drafts I had were just as good as I remember.

 

Is that like asking for the case count?

 

@beace heard that a variant of BBBM will be bottled with regular. Is it going to Nuts or Coffee?

 

I heard it was infused with Bubble Yum and Cheetos.

 

I heard it's not as good as last year's.

 

I also heard there are only 2 cases left.

 

That's just of the limited, first come, first served maple syrup that goes out to anyone that buys a full allotment. Still plenty of bottles left. Should last a few weeks. But will definitely run out right before the weekend that anyone asking here plans to come.

 

I vote for bacon. BBBBM.
