    FYI:
Grapevine has Ctayt Batch 3 on sale for $18.
I haven't bought one since batch 1 because $23 is just a little too steep, even though I really enjoyed it. But $18 I can handle.

This thread hasn't gotten any love for a while... Anyone had anything good recently?

With the cooler temps coming this weekend, I couldn't help but cracking open a F&G BA Imp Stout. Man that stuff is still drinking so good. Really hoping they increase it to more than once per year. That, or others need to start packaging in a smaller format. There are times (i.e. tonight) where I don't want (need?) to drink a 750 all by myself.

I did have Fiction BA Malice and Darkness last night. I thought it was real good. The base beer is what I consider a real RIS, dark, viscous, absorbs any light unfortunate enough to come near it.
    Here's the huge negative: $18 for 500ml
Is it $5 better than LotLB? Holy crap no. LotLB is a better beer no doubt. While Malice is a real good beer, I can't blame anyone being scared off by the price tag. I bought one for home and split one there with a friend. That's my "support the small brewery" limit.

I got to try the BA Mexican Achromatic after talking with the bartenders at WeldWerks. It was amazing. Really looking forward to that release. Such a great balance of vanilla and chocolate with a little bit of cinnamon to round it all out. Tastes like Mexican got chocolate.

I was at Fiction on Saturday and bought a bottle of the BA M&D. I had the same thoughts. Thought it was tasty but too pricy for me to get another bottle

Anyone else hear about this? Jolly Russian?

Definitely going to stop there after work Friday, but was wondering if it is the same beer as the 'Russian Pirate' that came out around this time (draft only) last year.

I mean, its the same ABV as last year- maybe some other brewery already had the name? Maybe they don't want beef with Putin?

Call to Arms apparently doesn't care about name dropping Putin. They have 2 different BA baltic porters (Shirtless Putin on a Horse and Shirtless Putin Nuzzling Dolphins) "honoring" him.

One of the facebook comments confirmed that it's the same beer. I really like that beer, but I agree that the rebrand is a downgrade.

Is this going to see distro? Bar up here just tapped a keg of Russian Pirate for an Odell takeover, forgot how great it was last year.

yes, I see it in the feeds for some of the bottle shops so should see plenty of distro I would think.

The Russian Pirate did extremely well with a year under its belt. The biting, boozy heat that it had fresh really mellowed out.

My guess is there will be plenty in distro, especially since they are bottling it, but who really knows?

We got bottles in Casper. Sipping on one right now. Has some similarities to BCBS except using rum barrels. I like.

Anyone know if there's any Ctayt still floating around in the Boulder area? And--pardon the ignorance--is this a yearly release or a couple-patches-and-done beer?

IIRC they make it once every 14-18 months. There are a few places in Denver that still have it.

Thanks, Dan. It's probably for the best; I can't even afford one of those bottles right now anyway

I haven't but I will make it a point to try it based on the name alone. Nice reference.
