Thanks guys will be making my way up for Darkness Day from Sioux Falls and might seek out the Lake Wine location at the least on the way to eat at Surly as well. Hopefully the Castle Danger fresh hop is out too love to try that since there is no Wet this year!

I have to confess -- I picked up an LTD Real American Monster -- American barleywine aged in whiskey barrels. I haven't been impressed by a single LTD beer I've bought since I've been back, but I have to admit -- I really think I like this. I had a Todd the Axe Man first so I may be off, but what do folks say?

 

Some of us had a discussion about this beer last year. The consensus, and I absolutely agree, was that it is a very good beer.

 

Great -- good to know I wasn't crazy. Part of it I'm sure is my expectations were low, but was presently surprised! I didn't finish the bottle because ABV was so high and I was solo, but solid brew.

 

This was my first LTD beer & I was blown away; an excellent brew. Based on that, I bought a few bottles of their Night Falls BA Stout when it was released & was really let down. Their stuff on tap is very nice, but they seem to have that issue so many 'newer' places have in maintaining the quality in their bottled offerings.

 

whatever their dry/irish stout was that had two variants, was a waste. no body whatsoever. their triple ipa wasnt horrible.

 

You should probably skip Amy's Dream which is their Irish Stout with chocolate & vanilla and Amy's blend from Caribou Coffee. I thought Sleepwalker triple IPA was really good and it sort of reminded me of the very first Size 11.

I picked up 4 x 4 packs (of Rum King) in Fargo on Oct 1st. $20+tax per. Was surprised to see that as well as Expedition already on the shelves up there since it is just arriving in MN.
Edit: Happy Harry's is where I purchased this. Was up for NDSU homecoming.

 

So Rum King in Minneapolis tomorrow? I heard it would be hitting St. Paul tomorrow but hadn't gotten confirmation on MPLS

 

Total Wine - Maple Grove Rum King price check: $19.75/4 pack (after the government takes her bite).

Should be plenty to last at least a few days when it finally drops in your neighborhood. If anyone hits up the Maple Grove Total Wine, head to the walk-in cooler in the back corner of the beer section to find 'em!
