That's a lot of Xocoveza. That Modelo, though!

Drank a fresh one last night and I drink one of last years every month or every few weeks. Pepper has a bit more of a punch in the fresh for sure. The coffee seems a lot smoother too.

I get personal preference of not aging but it even states on the bottle it can be cellared.

I had my fair share fresh but I have a couple leftover from last release and look forward to comparing it to this years

Bought a case yesterday and had my first of the season last night. Absolutely terrific! Probably my favorite seasonal release.

For the comments regarding faded coffee (whether it be from age or even in the fresh bottles), I don't think the coffee in this is ever supposed to be front and center. Rather, all of the components work together to promote chocolate and spice. Foodies often suggest to add a bit of coffee to any chocolate dish or dessert. The coffee doesn't really present itself as coffee in these situations, it just really enhances the chocolate and makes it pop.

I think that is in play with Xocoveza. Personally, the flavors I detect the most are the cinnamon and chocolate with slight heat in the background. The coffee supports these flavors rather than being in your face a la Sumatra Mtn. Brown or Speedway (both of which are fantastic in their own right).

Indeed... for those that have been to the Riviera Maya, pronounce it like Xel-ha or Xcaret (zhel/shel-hah and izh/ish-cah-rette, respectively)

compared a bottle from last year with this year's. surprisingly little difference, other than a stronger coffee flavor in the fresh one

This one is mine. And no, you cannot have it (LOL!) I have Personally never tasted a beer like this with this aroma and taste. Definetly an after dinner desert beer in my subjective opinion.
