I was going to sit outside this morning and have a cigar anyway. Might as well be in line for beer. I get up at 4:30 M-F and usually only sleep until 6:00 or 6:30 on weekends, so no big deal to me.

As someone who was completely turned off by the only other OH release I did over a year ago I have to say I have no real complaints about today. Got to Brooklyn around 9:15 went to CSG for a pretty good brekkie sando, got in line around 9:35 an was out of there by 10:45. Got 2 4-packs of everything except the stout (1 4-pack). The line appeared to be longer once I left at 10:45 than it was when I lined up at 9:35 and overall everything was smooth. I do think case limits are a bit much if you know you are going to sell out

Didn't get cans, but my growler of Mylar Bags is tasting nice. Not as fond as the first impression I had of it, but this is BeerAdvocate. The first batch is ALWAYS better.

I think Mylar is a little green right now and will be tasting amazing in a week or 2.

I'm liking the subtle changes to the labels that were made with the logo on the right and text on the bottom.

Lol you realize that a lot of OH beer names are references to weed/green right? (Magic Green Nuggets, Mylar Bags). Well Broccoli is a nickname for weed, one that's gotten quite popular now with the DRAM/Yachty hit song. OH guys seem to be hip hop heads too, so that's not surprising (and maybe particularly Yachty fans?).

Also the tag line of "Drink your greens" is pretty damn good/clever

i dont know to be honest. if im going to invest the time and $ it took to get these beers (wasnt able to get Mylar) id rather head to a brewery with a better overall location and experience
tap room is super crammed, immediate area is an absolute dump

Fair enough. Last release I did was 3 months ago and only after seeing they had a bunch of beer left and minimal line. The taproom is definitely packed on release days but I really like the pressure filled growlers that take a bit longer. I have a few friends in the city so if I really wanted something they will get me growlers during the week.

I've made 2 trillium and treehouse trips in the past 6 weeks. It ends up being a 14 hour round trip but trillium is my personal favorite brewery and with treehouse being a little over an hour from Canton it's an easy decision.

Saturday was my first time to Other Half and it was definitely worth it. The trashy exterior area aside, the beer is delicious and the surrounding hassle of the trip/line wasn't bad at all.

Forever Simcoe is my favorite, and the stout is surprisingly good.

If you REALLY want your Trillium fix, take a train from NYC to Route 128 Westwood. Trillium's Canton location is 7 minutes from the stop. I was fortunate to combine this with a business trip recently but it wasn't a bad trip if you want to completely load up on Trillium. Not entirely cost effective but it's an option without a car in NYC.

Has Other Half ever made a coffee beer?(I can't recall) Would love to see some SDH variants.

Dont think so, but on the topic of darker beers, wish they would make Doug again, that beer was awesome.

It's far easier to just take Bolt or Mega bus. Like 13 dollars one way during the week, and south station is like five minutes from the fort point location.

Anyone else think forever simcoe is the worst of the bunch? Terrible flavor, doesn't taste anything like the batch I got in growers 2 weeks ago.

Not really. Had one last night and was pretty blown away by how much I enjoyed it. I liked it quite a bit on draft; however, these cans are on another level. Really nice clean and fruity flavor with just a hint of pine. I'd go even as far to say that it has a chance to be the sleeper winner of the release.

I really hope they make Doug again - after Epitome it's the best Black IPA I've had.

Really pumped to finally get cans of Southernhopalistic. Love that beer. I wonder if they are planning on canning Smokescreens.
