Has anyone tried Derdre Golf yet? I don't want to buy it until I know what I'm getting myself into.

I haven't but sounded like the base for Quad Tonnellerie to me. If you tried that beer, I think you'll get a decent idea of how it will taste.

This! There is a reason the Bruery now has lots of what used to be society releases available to the public or tap room. Their beers aren't hyped anymore because they are pretty easy to get nowadays. They make some of the best barrel aged beers on the market.

I'm glad I'm out of town for this one, I would probably kill my self doing just the verticals.

I hope party favors include a bucket and an IV. BT Survivor.

Just saw the list for the BT release party. So many cool verticals to be done, which would allow to me safely continue NOT drinking my big Bruery stouts! But alas I cannot go. Probably a good thing from my liver's perspective. That is a LOT of beers to be sampled.

In all seriousness, that's an excellent beer list and I would love to come if I still lived in CA and could take that Wednesday off.

I won't be at the event, but a general question for discussion: especially in a case like this where I assume you'd have to finish one before getting another, do you drink verticals youngest to oldest or vice versa?

I prefer older to younger, myself. Flavors generally become less prominent with age, so by going old->young, you're more likely to pick up on those nuances.

Which is funny, because the 2012 was the weakest vintage (in terms of hazelnut flavor), even when it was released.

Yup, which is why I would drink it. GM is probably my least favorite of the BT variants so this would have been my ability to try and get it back into my rotation of heavy hitting stouts by drinking the weakest one and then working myself up to the past few year releases.

I can't wait to try and drink my weight in Black Tuesday and variants and then stumble back to the hotel. Will there be insulin provided to keep people from entering a diabetic coma?

the only problem i have is all of these beers will be served too cold. so if you want to do a vert, it wont matter cause youll just have to hit back each one faster than youd prefer because the time of the event is so short.
