I've been seeing Aun mas Cafe Jesus for $15 a 11.2oz around here. absurd pricing.

Why does this bother you? I understand some of the evil twin price hate but these bottles aren't overpriced. At $10 for a 12 oz that's about a $20 bomber, cheaper than any barrel aged offering from evil twin. What grocery store in New York are you going to?

In Michigan, it is against the law for an importer to also be a distributor, so 12 Percent has to sell to another (Michigan based)distributor instead of distributing itself. That distributor still has to make a profit, so they charge their normal mark up and the price goes up. Basically the beer is going through an extra, really expensive step before you buy it.

I was quoting the guy who paid $13 when it's being sold for $8 in NYC. It bothers me that places that mark up so much are patronized.

Does anybody know when / if this is going to start showing up in Iowa? None of the stores in WCF have it yet, and the managers weren't sure about it. Is it showing up in Illinois, Wisconsin, and/or Minnesota?

Have not seen it that low. I also only purchased one bottle at 12.99, found it elsewhere for 10.99. Cheapest I saw on BM was 9.99 but at places where they list prices low to draw people in and are usually sold out immediately

I happened to be on a job near Bread and Honey when it was posted and I was surprised to see it at $9.99. 10-11 dollars is still more than I want to pay for a 12oz bottle, but the beer is really good and by Evil Twins standards, cheaper I guess.

Does anybody know the general distribution of this one state-wise?

Keyfood on Atlantic which I think is not on beermenus (thank god). They had about 15 bottles on the shelf for 7.99 on Friday.

I think there's a difference between a Boutique beer shop and a multi-state grocery chain. Dont get me wrong, its great that you were able to buy as many bottles as you want at $7.99, you got a great deal but that is not the norm. I've always said that I think these grocery chains getting limited release beers is stupid.

How many of these have you picked up? Set up a trade account and send 'em this way!

In an email, Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, owner of Evil Twin, told Tenemu that 880 cases of Michigan Maple Jesus were released packaged in 12-ounce bottles that will be distributed across the brewery’s distribution network, although the majority will be sold in New York.

Somebody else already answered why this happens, but as a comparison. The pint cans of even more jesus, which sell for around $4 a can elsewhere, are almost $30 a pack here. Imperial doughnut break is a $20 bomber(did see it for 17 one place), and imperial biscotti break cans are 23-26 a 4 pack. I think i say an une mas jesus for 12.99 for the 12oz bottle.

I can only imagine this would be around $20 for the 12 ounce here, or more as @PrestigeWorldwide said.

I grabbed more than my fair share for sure but not as many as I would have. I figured if they were in the supermarket, they'd be all over the place! I'm new here so I'll look into how trading works and will be fine to part with a few.

I can't think of any reason that you'd say that other than you owning a beer store. What's wrong with it? I'm sure the 7.99 price was a normal markup for them. I'm really against huge markups from resellers.

The point is that grocery stores can afford lower margins because they 1. Have bigger buying power (due to multiple locations) and 2. Have other things they sell that compensate for lower beer margins.

In this case, there isn't a better beer store near me but that does makes sense.
