Wow that's surprising. I came in at 7:00 p.m. and they never got it. Gone in three hours into the late evening is intense. I'll try again when they brew a second batch.

Ha - didn't mean to rub it in! I think missing out on cans of Juicy by 5 minutes motivated me to make sure I got some Galaxy Bowl.

I would really like to try Juicy, Galaxy Bowl and Juice is Loose side by side. I think those 3 are pretty similar (I like some Special Sauce batches, but think they might be slightly different in terms of mouthfeel than these 3) , but I can only go from memory. From that, I say GB>Juice is Loose>Juicy.

Assuming you can trust whomever provided that info to you (and me) of course. These days in this market? I NEVER know for sure.

That's true. I've been going to Lakeview Binny's for about 3+ years now. Have developed a good relationship with some of their beer guys, but have noticed a lot of newer employees and that was the one who told me, "Have not received it yet, so you haven't missed it."

Yes, it was sarcasm as these beers don't relate to the NE IPAs in this thread, but that being said Gate Crasher is a phenomenal English IPA. And you hit Charlatan on the nose, it's a "B" beer- you'd be happy with the grade, but with a little extra effort you could get an "A" beer. The price is very fair for what you get though.

I like a good English IPA every now and again, so I'll have to give Gate Crasher a try.

I have to say, I'm a little frustrated with how GB is being distributed. I'm sure it's an issue of logistics for Hop Butcher (so I'm not criticizing), but it's incredibly random (not just where it's going, but what day, what time, etc.). I'm glad I picked up a 4-pack, because it's proving very difficult for me to get a 2nd to share.

You are far from the only one, and its not just the consumers that are frustrated. My understanding is that its a combo of a small outfit producing their beers out of another facility that is not their own (Aquanaut), limited quantity, and just not being good at distribution.

At least you found it once! As long as this stuff is flying off the shelves they should move it to a $7-8 for an individual can price range. Limit 1 or 2.

Gate Crasher is tasty. Nice "every day" kinda beer.

I probably won't trek downtown to Binny's grand for GB or really any of the releases. When I went there it was flying off the shelves and I saw a bunch of people sampling some beer and coming out with cans in the back of the store. Kinda sketch, but that's how it goes a lot of the time. Lakeview Binny's took some time, as someone mentioned newer employees seem disconnected with what is being delivered. Might have something to do with confusion..... Hopefully getting enough to do a side by side with all the others and see how they stack up!!

    Thats cold blooded
I think charlaton is their best beer. I don't know, i guess i just like classic american crisp 6% pale ales that feature citra hops. But then again, I also love me a fist city from time to time. Maybe i should leave the thread:grinning:

on a related topic, this Nimbus is pretty solid

Hahah, well saying Charlatan is their best beer isn't honestly saying much. Their other beers have been solid to downright disappointing (looking at you juice pants/son of juice). And don't take that as a knock on Charlatan. I actually like it as well (although I hate it in bombers - you can other stuff, why not your best beer???) Im just saying its not going to blow anyone away.

Oakbrook Binnys got GB this afternoon (via Hopbutcher Tweet) and was sold out when I got there at 5. I was told by the beer buyer at the Willowbrook Binnys yesterday that they wouldn't be getting it at all. Looks like I'm done chasing this one. This distribution model, if you can call it that, is... frustrating.
