If they were bringing one of the big stouts, I would think they would have announced it and drastically increased ticket prices.

As it is, I'm tempted to go just for KS, but I have to do SOMETHING besides drink beer this month.

I don't necessarily think they're bringing something that big (since it's just a very random/small beer fest), but they have no control over ticket prices, since this is a Chicago running event.

I'm skipping FoBAB this year, so doing smaller stuff like this is how I make it up to myself. :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm not doing FOBAB either, but that's because I'll be in Decorah/Wisconsin that weekend. Plus I already did the Juicy release and an STL beercation and I have a bottle share/brewery crawl coming up. Then of course there's November stout chasing.

My wallet and liver need a break!

Agreed. Do you guys think we need to get there at noon or do you think King Sue will last a while?

Also, if anyone else is going solo, would be down to chat. I'll be the guy sitting down and reading a book

I have less than 0 sense of how many people are going to this one, and no idea how much of KS they're bringing, either. My hope is that this isn't the sort of beer fest many BAs go to, so we'll have no issues. But it's Chicago, and that's almost never the way it plays out.

I'm in the same boat as @SeanBond. For some reason I don't think this will be a crazy beer fest, since it's disguised/combined with a run. But, I also thought I could get cans of Juicy showing up an hour and fifteen minutes after it went on sale, and we know how that went.

My gut says it'll last a bit, but I do plan on getting there pretty much right at Noon.

On a related topic, did you guys get any sort of ticket that you have to bring with you? I got my e-mail confirmation, but that's it.

You should have gotten an email from "On The Scene Event Management" which includes a barcode to be presented at the fest.

I must still be hungover from last night...I did get that e-mail but failed to notice the "Please be prepared to present this email at the event". Thanks for setting me straight.

I'll be going with a buddy of mine, but if anyone wants to meet up to chat for a bit and hang out, let me know!

I will be doing the run and then joining everyone in copious amounts of day drinking. Excited to try some TG for the first time.

Wish the run started before the fest. Should be a gorgeous day.

I'm confused--You mean you wish it started after the fest, right?

Also, I can't imagine running after more than a beer; after the initial burst of alcoholic energy carries me a block or two, I'd crash and burn hard.

No...maybe better wording was I wished the fest started after the run? Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah, it's weird that the beer fest starts at the same time people start the race. You'd think they'd want the fest to start at least a half hour later to give the runners a chance to get back, but that must mean there will be plenty of King Sue to go around. :grinning:

No, it's my mistake; I saw the packet pickup at 930 and assumed you ran thereafter, because my mind can't figure out why you'd run DURING the fest.

Golden nugget and Dorothy's are pouring along with King. They also have cans of Pseudo available. All other breweries are serving canned beer.

About 1:45 down here and King Sue is still flowing on draft.

The fest today was certainly chill. Very easy to get some King Sue, although I was a bit disappointed that PseudoSue was only in cans. I was not really into King Sue, and it's not something I would go out of my way to get. Plenty of other good options that I would take here in Chicago.

The biggest props go to TG for being the only ones serving from tap, though. All the other breweries were serving from cans, which was disappointing.

Anyone see the can dates? Maybe they were clearing out older stock?
