Maharaja and Knuckle Sandwich

I think I may have missed some words and the grammar may be off.

 

I haven't had KS, but I will echo that Maharaja is quite malty and is quite bad as a result.

 

Doesn't anyone else see this?!? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!!!

Maharaja and Knuckle Sandwich are too balanced malty for me.
But I'd take Knuckle Sandwich over Maharaja any day.

How do you even respond to this. A beer is "bad" because it's malty. Wow.

The bottom line is Maharaja has been a world class beer for years now. I do believe it has changed a bit over the past few years, but it's still a fabulous DIPA. Is it sweeter than some other DIPAs? Sure, but that doesn't make it bad (see Hopslam for reference).

I had a KS a few years back and thought it was good, but not great.

I had a Maharaja about a week after it was bottled and was super stoked and that was my 1st reaction. HOLY Malt bat man! KS is much more balanced and a bit brighter vs. thicker and pineier. (sp?)

No, it's world class because over 1600 people have rated it at a 93/100 and even the originators of this site have rated it 95/100 (world class). So that would mean my opinion (and many, many others) is substantiated and yours is not.

Fairly simple really, I hope you can grasp it.

I'd agree that Knuckle Sandwich is the better of the 2, but Maharaja is a solid beer in its own right. They're two of the only malty DIPAs that I like, but KS is more balanced where Maharaja is a little sweeter and boozier. Maharaja's not the worst substitute if you live anywhere outside of where KS is available.
