God I hope this is satire.

And I hope you don't pray about whether a message on a beer forum is satire.

Yeah, me too. Except it was Unsessionable I drain poured. Not so much out of "this sucks" but more of "this ain't what I paid for".

Interesting comments. I had Unsessionable for the first time last year and wasn't going to buy another six pack this year. It was too malty and sweet for me last time around. And this from a guy who likes some malt character in my IPAs/DIPAs.

I have enjoyed the Hero series quite a bit this year though, particularly Citra Hero. Mosaic Hero was probably the one I'd be least likely to buy again - I didn't get belgian-y - but the hop component seemed subdued to me compared to the others. May just be masked by the darker malts.

Unrelated, but whatever happened to Double Fist?

Nope. I think the little bit of bubblegum taste was pretty interesting. Sure goes better than coffee in an IPA

I think @novamat had a similar experience with the Mosaic Hero.

I did have a similar experience with a Mosaic Hero six pack, thanks @FBarber. Someone who tried one of other cans from the same pack told me it was NOT the same Mosaic Hero he had on tap at Rev's brewpub, and there was something definitely off about the beer. I was able to return the remaining cans of the six pack to a Rev brewer and I really want to know what they think.

Thank You, I assumed my palate had changed, and not for the better. Unsessionable has been my favorite beer, until this year. There is definitely something different this year. In the past I think it lived up to its name, it tasted more like a session beer and could be dangerous drinking a few. This year one is enuff. Its ok, but there is no worry of wanting to drink too many in a night.

FWIW, I did hear back from my contact about my six pack of Mosaic Hero and learned that a random yeast mutation was causing off flavors in some Rev products brewed at one of their locations (the brewpub maybe?). Anyway, thought you might want to know.

Just to follow up...I barely got through 6oz of the Unsessionable. Yeast bomb with little citrus notes; basically the opposite of that first version.

Too bad, it was a special beer.

And you got this from your contact who IS or IS NOT directly employed by Revolution?

Too bad, yes. I am drinking a can now with 9/27 date and find it to be yummy. No real discernible change from previous batches IMO. No yeast bomb here.

It certainly could be that my palate has changed. I certainly have no inside info about yeast issues or anything...

Likewise, that is why I posed the question to previous post...if there is actually a problem would REV not be more transparent about it? I would like to think they would, obviously.

I just emailed them about our possibly bum keg of Mosaic Hero. I'll report back.
