Any idea on availability at the brewpub? Probably heading up to our cabin in a week and a half, wondering if it'll be around or not.

I think I saw an announcement on their Facebook page that Bourbon Huma sold out the first day it was available.

Yep, sold out on the 14th.

ALSO: Forgot to mention this earlier, but FAN'S CHOICE voting starts tomorrow with the reveal. Although I guess Pineapple Pilsner is definitely gonna be a choice on the ticket.

Another takeaway from the release schedule: Anni ale looks like it'll be six packs this year.

    Happy to see...
    - Many classics are back like Cup A Joe, Liberator, Strawberry Short's Cake, and Hopstache.
    - Barrel Aged Black Cherry Porter is on the calendar.
    - Prolonged Enjoyment is back as a Seasonal - one of my favorite session beers.
    - Melt My Brain is now a Seasonal Release.

    Bummed to see...
    - No Superfluid. Guess Short's needs to make room for some new IPAs, and Michigantuan sounds pretty tasty.
    - Wowee Zowee was a standout beer from the 2014 schedule that really impressed me and everyone I shared it with. A perfect beer for the summer months, but unfortunately has yet to see another release. Anyone else remember this one?
    - No Pistachio Cream Ale, one of my pub favorites that has yet to see a bottled release.
    - No BBA Woodmaster! I can only imagine how good this would taste.

It goes without saying - Short's is killing it this year, and even with those omissions, I'll be buying a crap-ton of Short's again next year.

From what I understand they cant bottle Pistachio Cream ale unfortunately, due to the bottles exploding. I could be wrong but I feel like I heard it somewhere along the way. Bummer though.

Oh, Wowee. I've missed that one, too. The problem I'm running into (and I'm sure a lot of us are in the same boat) is that I've developed too many favorites among the limited releases that it's clashing with my desire for ones that haven't seen a bottle release yet. Guess I just have to make more trips to the pub.

"Can I get a growler of Pistachio Cream? "
" Depends. How fast can you drink it? "

OK, Short's fans, here it is, the fan's choice voting is now open!

    From the website:

"This year, we’ve narrowed the field by selecting a slate of candidates that exemplify the best that Short’s has to offer. We’ve got a beer for the hop heads, I Got 5 On It; an experimental brew, Mule Beer; a beer for the animal lover, Old Reliable; and a beer that our Southwest Liberator, Sean, just won’t give up on: the fabled Pineapple Pilsner.

Voting for the 2017 Fan’s Choice beer begins today, Monday, October 17th and will end at 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 6th, 2016. Each Short’s fan may vote once per day using the ballot below. The winner will be announced once the votes are tallied on Monday, November 7th."

    (lol at @HopHeadHerman name checked)

    Description of each:

"I Got Five On It is a medium-light bodied American India Pale Ale brewed with five different hop varieties. A blend of earthy and sweet citrus hop aromas softy rise from this hop forward brew. Bready malt and fruity tangerine flavors lead into a prominent bitterness that resonates pleasantly and finishes dry.
    6.2% ABV
    70 IBU

Mule Beer is an Experimental American Blonde Ale brewed with lime and ginger. Designed to mimic the flavors of a Moscow Mule, Mule Beer is bright and pale orange in color. This brew is medium-bodied and well balanced with scents and flavors of of malt, ginger, and subtle lime.
    6.2% ABV
    25 IBU

Old Reliable is a light-bodied American Pilsner. This beer is light in color with notable yeast aromatics and floral fragrances. Flavors of hearty grain and a delicate sweetness shift quickly to a pronounced bitterness that lingers and dries the palate. The finish is crisp and clean.
    4.91% ABV
    21 IBU

Pineapple Pilsner is a refreshing American Pilsner with an exotic twist. Subtle esters of grain and hints of sweet citrus fruit collide with a mouth puckering pineapple flavor. The slight essence of malt and corn produce a relatively clean mouthfeel and a lingering tart finish.
    5% ABV
    50 IBU"

Mule Beer and Old Reliable were both recently featured in variety packs, and while solid, I wouldn't use my vote on them. I Got Five on It is a decent IPA, had it last year at the pub. But for me, it wasn't anything more special than what's already available in bottles. Pineapple Pilsner, by dint of its uniqueness and just sounding damn refreshing, gets my vote.

I had a tap event with about 20 different beers, some very rare, and Pineapple Pilsner was the first to go.

This was in the middle of Feb.

2107 line up looks like I will be supporting Shorts financially quite a bit again. The absence of Superfluid and Dan's Pink Skirt will help though - I think I bought 7 six-packs between the two this year. If the production of Cat Grass is consistent with the amount they typically have produced of the specialty beers then I will probably get a case......that stuff was great!!!

I'd love to see Batch 5000 make it back into bottles.......that was the best Triple IPA I've ever had hands down!!!!!

Pineapple pilsner soonds good to me. Was a little disappointed there was no write in vote. Had a whole campaign ready for Raisin Apollo after it's close finish last year. Maybe next year!

I'm digging the '17 lineup. Out of everything, I think I'm excited the most for these:

    Double Magician
    Smore Stout
    Michigantuan
    BBA Black Cherry
    Woodmaster

Also happy to see Bodacious, Freedom and Cup A Joe make their return.

The Fan's Choice options seem kind of weak, although I'll give them a pass:sunglasses: Five On It is the only one that remotely interests me.

Not that I want to encourage this, but I recently had a Woodmaster and Bodacious. My cousin lives out of state and gets back into town every couple of months, so I pick some stuff up for her to take back with her. She forgot to take the bottles I set aside this summer and isn't planning on getting back for a while, so I decided to check what I had to make sure there wasn't anything that would good bad. Lo and behold, there was a Woodmaster and Bodacious (and Car Ramrod, Sunspot, among others).

Decided to drink them, since they were kept relatively cool in a basement closet. ("Why do you keep calling that closet a cellar? " - my wife)

Long story short - too late - both held up quite well. Definitely better fresh.

I would be curious to know why Publican Porter has been exiled. Its a pretty straightforward style, so it can't be hard to make. And in terms of BA scores, its one of Shorts best beers.

I'd imagine with all the roasted malts they put in there it's more expensive to make? Not a brewer so just a guess. That said, Publican is probably my favorite beer in their regular lineup, and holds up extremely well for at least 2 years in my experience. Hoping that they bring it back soon!
