I shot gunned a can while waiting in line for my wrist band at Darkness Day. Went down nice and smooth. Hardly tasted any Rum at all :grinning:

Would have been better if you did it with your onseie around your waist... like most of the night before.

Can we get a final recipe? So far I have:

    1 can of rum king
    extra rum
    coconut flakes
    grain of salt
    yams (?)

You are only missing some method of shotgunning I think....

Maybe some French Toast Crunch and/or Pineapple too!

@MNBeerGeek has some experience with that, maybe he can shed some light on the method or technique.

Add me to the list of people who think Rum King is better than Jolly Russian.

My very first year getting some Rum King since Darkness Day was moved up to the Rum King release week. I will say by far the best Indeed brew I have had. Midnight Rider and Let it ride didn't blow me away but Rum King wow. My first Rum barrel aged beer it actually is a damn close second to Darkness and I think almost better then BA Darkness.

I love the 12oz I hate opening a bomber of thick heavy high ABV stout a 12oz serving is perfect if you have no one to share with!

Is there any BA stouts that do both bottles and cans? I'm nervous about keeping cans of beer for a few years. Plus, I like the artwork on Rumking and Darkness. It would be great to have Darkness cans, but bottles available as well. It just makes it easier to keep in the cellar.

Personally I have never had an issue with aged Ten Fiddy cans. I can't remember reading of others having reported issues either. Cans are lined.

Lined cans tend to regulate their internal temperature slightly better than glass bottles, plus no glass means no light which means no light skunk!

Thanks for all the info. Good to know about cans. The only thing I've had aged in cans was Budweiser in my parent's garage.

Not to mention they are much easier to shotgun... so you'll always have shotgun cellar beers at the ready!

I not worried about it. It wont last that long in my house. I love this format. But Im glad you are keeping some for the future, I now know where I can find some.

For anyone who cares, Rum King infused with toasted coconuts was tasty!

I toasted about 25g of coconut and put that and about 2/3 of a can in a french press. I then put it in the fridge for about 3 hours and took it out for about 10 mins before pressing and pouring to warm up. Used the rest of the can to make sure it had some carb. It ended up really good, though I feel like I toasted the coconut too much, but the wife loved it.

I will be making more tonight!

Ha I was just mentioning shotgunning Rum King can at Darkness Day this year! I am curious how many it would take before I blackout. Too damn smooth!
