if you are up in Portland drinking at Oxbow you can also pick up the tickets in person. And seeing they have been selling Vignerone at $45 to drink in their blending tap room why would you not drink there?

Looks like we have goods from the woods and the first Swish release of the year on the same day again. Wonder if there will be a dinner release also and make it a repeat of last year. That was a great day. Almost forgot Allagash released Ghoulship that day too.....CHEERS.

I hope this year allagsh at least release it in the morning, nice idea doing a halloween themed release and the pours were a super generous idea BUT it meant we had to get back to Portland after Oxbow. If anyone around there is doing a share we have a number of good sours we are waiting to open with maximum share potential.

Oxbow will be staying at the rental this year from what I remember.
RI and last years renter will need to slum down the street.

Last year they had a shuttle from Portland to Newcastle - I would love it if they do that again. Looking forward to the event in a big way. (I'll skip the line at Bissell - more Swish for everyone else.)

That was a really great day. I didn't get to the Swish release but if they have Dinner again this year too I'm just going to try and have it all.

Headed up from NJ. Anyone else?

Excited for this weekend. Haven't seen any recent BA chatter about it. Haven't been to this event before. Totally psyched.

Where does everyone park during an event at the Newcastle location? There aren't many parking spots at the brewery. And looks like there might be rain on Saturday. Wondering if they set up a tent (?) Details are scant on their website and on their Facebook page. I suppose I'll call the brewery when they open tomorrow for more details, but I figured they would share more details online.

There's a field down the street you park at and they bus you. It's rained before for this, there are some covered spots but mostly you just have to deal with it. It's an awesome time, this will be my 4th time attending!

Communications and instructions to the neophyte have never been Oxbow's forte, but I expect at least some further instructions will be forthcoming in the next couple days (including official confirmation that the two free bottles for attendees will be Arboreal). In past years, parking has been in a field at Cowshit Corner, Newcastle ME (not kidding, google map it; even has a billboard bragging to be Cowshit Corner - an Instagram opportunity) with frequent shuttle buses to the brewery. (It's walkable through the woods for the orienteering-enabled attendees, but don't go trekking through the woods after drinking.) I think there are also shuttle buses from Portland via the Maine Brew Bus.

Looks now as if it will be chilly and overcast, but not much rain. But lots of rain is likely Friday, so wear footwear appropriate for the mud.

There are limited places to get out of rain inside the tap room and brew house, but don't expect there to be tents for everyone to escape a rainstorm. There will be lots of camp chairs pitched around the bonfire pit (and if last year is to go by, drunken pyromaniac assholes throwing the entire woodpile into the fire to see what happens). But, on balance, it one of the most chilled, enjoyable beer experiences ever.

Oh, and there will be a couple rare casks hidden in the woods. If your there early, join the hunt. If not, look for the merry crowd giggling by the brook.

From what I know, GFTW was only bottled one year. There are different bottles released at the fest each year but I think the official GFTW bottle was only last year.

I am then hoping the Arboreal and Second Fruits are the 2 bottles.
-Heard that a second fruits would be at this years GFTW.

they just posted on Instagram about pouring First Fruits plus other fruited beers at the Orchard Bar. also confirmed that parking is at Cowshit corner with a new defined hiking path to the brewery, email blast comes out tomorrow. They tend to use instagram a lot to blast essential information.

Have a feeling First Fruits will be pour only. Arboreal will be released in bottles though.
That First Fruits stole the show for me last year. What an amazing beer.

have you had Professor Plum? Its amazing too, their fruited Fridays that they suddenly throw occasionally at the blending room are so good we drive up just to indulge.
