If they do the same amounts as last year, it's probably the best release in terms of quantities they do. Plenty for Saturday to run into Sunday and some hitting limited distro too. Definitely my favorite beer from them amd one of my top in the state so hoping I can snag some again this year.

Last year they only had 2 or 3 people taking payments that is why the line took so long. Hopefully they will have more this year.

I went back with my brother once he got off work at 6pm and there was no line with 4 packs still available.

Last year the only reason the line lasted so long was because they had reduced the number of people taking payments from what they normally did. The KCM and ABGBS release they went back to having at least four people taking money.

It still amazes me after all these releases that Hardywood cannot for the love of God get organized. Would it be so difficult to drop pallets in the parking lot and have 10 people taking money?

I would assume its a combination of not having enough employees, and trying to pours drafts and merch all at the same time. I've not been to many releases where you dont have to wait at least a little bit to get coveted bottles.

Hardywood always seemed to have everything set up properly until that Trickery release. They have always separated lines for pours from the lines for folks waiting on bottles. Trickery seemed to be an aberration.

I don't mind waiting but it seems like any in demand bottle, I.e Trickery, Foolery, KCM/AB GBS all suffer and Hardywood keeps changing their strategy. Either plop down all the pallets in the parking lot and have 5+ lines or go to Event brite and make it a parking lot party release.

So if Hardywood is doing tickets for the 5th year anniversary release this weekend, any reason to think they wouldn't do this for Trickery next weekend?

HW did mention for this weekend it was ticketing for one reason since it was their first bottled batch so they expect the turnout to be big. Not saying Trickery will not be as big, which of course it will, but I'm pretty sure they are brewing a lot more than 1,080 bottles of Trickery so that's another reason for the tickets this weekend I expect.

Does Hardywood allow bottles shares and drinking in line during their releases?

No. They are very adamant about that restriction.

It's not like shares don't go on. Do you think everyone really has coffee in their Yeti's and travel mugs?

Do they allow you to drink their pours in line after open like Veil? Or is that unique to Veil?

Yes, you can do that. As long as you are on their property. During the releases last year tey had someone coming around monitoring this. The ABC headquarters is literally a block away, so they don't take these issues (no bottle sharing, or their beers consumed just slightly off their property) lightly at all. People do bottle share across the street (off Hardywood property). Just keep an eye out for any trucks and coffee cups and/or Yeti tumblers.

I may be traveling to visit friends in VA and was to thibking about hitting up Hardywood for the Trickery release. Is that a release where you need to be there early or can you show up after the initial rush and lines to pick up a few bottles? Thanks everyone!

A fair amount of the line at the ABGBS/KCM release wound through their parking lot and I had a pour of both beers while waiting.
