I think @Jmorey has it down. Last Superfluid release was around the $15.00 mark, too. I'm sure some of the stores around will mark it up as high as $40.00, though.

I would appreciate a heads up if anyone around GR sees BBA Huma today. Been cruising social media feeds all morning and have yet to see a mention.

$40 would be crazy. Possible, but crazy. We'll save some of the cost of batch 5000 being in a smaller format, but not a ton. When the Beer Camp Across America pack was out, at $30 it sat around. One store told me they were sending them back to the distributor since no one would buy it. Which when you figure cost per bottle (2.50ea) it wasn't even that bad, but seeing a 12 pack for $30 has stick shock.

Honestly for me $25 is a go, more than that and I'll really have to think about it. Even though I just bought Xocoveza and enjoy by for 16.50 a pack. It's just the mentality of it.

I'd like to try all of these, and drink 5000 again, but would rather do it in a mix 6 setup.

It would have made a nice $10-$12 4pk, IMO

I would gladly pay $40. In fact, I would still buy 2 of these packs at $40. I realize that is sticker shock for some, but it is still only a $13 4pk. I've bought plenty of lesser beers and paid that or more for a 4 pack. Hell, that is basically the same price as Founders breakfast stout.

I've talked to 2 bottle shops today, and neither one received any BBA Huma from Imperial this week. Both said it should come with their next regular delivery from Imperial next week.

Yes, but they should know that putting out a $30+ 12 pack is not a good business decision. It WILL turn off the majority of customers. Even if the price per bottle is the same, packaging it in a mixed 6 or 4 pack will attract more customers.

Which is why I think it will be 30 or sub 30. Maybe I'll eat my words. But that is my thought process.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you. I'm guessing 29.99. However, I really don't think it would be that bad of a business decision if higher. Availability will be low enough that it will sell no matter what. The kind of customers buying this pack won't be your standard shorts variety pack buyers. The crowd that is buying a 15+% triple ipa and 3 big dipas realize the price point.

A similar comparison might be the Dark Horse ipa variety pack that came out this summer (the one with citra safety meeting). It was priced a 25.99 and disappeared from stores in the blink of an eye. And that one had 3 bottles of regular ol' crooked tree.

So of course we do not set pricing at stores and this will see a wider range depending on the store and what they are trying to achieve. I can say that I believe Short;s will be selling the pack for $28.95 and that should be an average price you see in the field. I know one store will be selling it for $24.95 and another for $29.99 per 12 pack.

All in all I hope this represents tremendous value because we are throwing normal expectations out of the window as we wanted to price it to move quickly and was more of project for fun than for profit.

A good comparison for sure, although it stuck around our area a bit longer. I only wanted the citra out of it, so I passed. I feel like Dark Horse put citra in there because they knew it'd move the pack, rather then sell it in sixes.

Now that is what I love to hear.

$30.00 is well worth it to me. $2.50 a bottle seems about right for a DIPA and 4 of these are Batch 5000!!!

I just have to say my hat's off to Shorts this year. I've heard plenty of chatter with the out of state distribution and quality control but the growing pains of expansion seems to be starting to pay off (at least for the Michigan consumer). I didn't go back to see exactly how many but they bottle sooooo many different beers per year and starting this year I don't have to rush for the specialty releases like years past as there is enough to wait a few days if needed. Plus the surprise beers (like BA Huma, this seasonal 12 pack)!!!!

While, like most beer loving humans, I can't say Shorts hits it out of the park with every release, I will say that they seem to be loving their job, having fun brewing all kinds of different beers, and not just in it for profits. And in the meantime we get to enjoy the fruits of their labor!

Sorry, 3 of these are Batch 5000 - not that I'd be upset if I opened up my 12 pack and saw 4 though.....
