The label says Mosaic/Amarillo/Equinox, so I dunno where the Simcoe/Citra/Mosaic hop bill came from.

Regardless... this is a hella good beer. Maybe one of the best pale ales I've ever had.

It's in Boulder and surrounding areas. All the major places have it now. Just drank my first, and have to say it's phenomenal!

7% ABV and 110 IBU isn't a Pale Ale, I don't care what the label says

I would not guess that it's 110 IBU. Pretty incredible that all that hoppy goodness is so drinkable. DHJ indeed.

Born Yesterday is one of my favorites each year, and I hail from the Land of Fresh Hop Beers. Generally speaking, I think it's a little silly to compare beers (or anything) we're experiencing now to our memory of them from a year, or more, before, but in this case it makes more sense: the hop bill (as best I can tell), the quality of each harvest, and the ABV have all changed each year. So, it's quite literally been a different "newborn" each time, and not just the same one reproduced a year apart.

FWIW, I still think 2014 was in a league of its own (I could smell that beer not just across the room but from a different room). 2016, which I just sampled this evening, would be a comfortable second, with 2015 not far behind. They range, in my mind, from sublime to "merely" great. For a FH beer produced in this volume, it's rather impressive...

Perhaps the most remarkable thing, though, is how rapidly and extensively this beer gets distributed around the country. It was bottled just 3 days ago, and yet it's practically everywhere already. Just like last year and the year before. The logistical planning which this requires is off the charts.

I know the Heineken "merger" complicates many a feeling towards Lagunitas, including my own, but they're still doing what they've always done. And what they do, so often, is pretty exceptional.

Did City Beer sell out? I picked up two sixers there Monday afternoon.

Gold Coast in Florida is doing a really poor job of getting this beer in bottle shops in my area. Looks like they've almost exclusively distributed to bars and restaurants in my area. Every bottle stop I've talked to said next week.

I just picked some of this up today and am having one now. Man, is it fantastic! I wasn't impressed with it last year but this year is a completely different story. I'm really loving the unfiltered murkiness. :grinning:

I got some Harvest Ale today also so I'll have to compare the two.

Not knocking the beer because it's really really good. But I wonder if Borned really means what we assume it means. In previous years, I remember reading that "Born Yesterday" meant bottled the day before. I remember the bottle date being the previous day. I'm an hour and a half south of the brewery. I got mine at a local mom and pop at 3pm on 10/17. Since I purchased it the same date on the bottle this year, did they bottle it that morning? I find that hard to believe that it made it's way on a truck and through distribution in less than 9 hrs.

I do believe they bottled it in the AM and immediately sent it out.

Still none where I'm at. Feel fortunate.

You got the Born Today variant then  But in all seriousness I just think it's meant to convey a super fresh beer. Obviously it's a relatively small footprint (vs their entire distribution) where it can actually have been distributed to stores by Oct 18th (assuming all bottle dates are 10/17). I'm looking forward to having one (or two) tonight. Cheers.

At the risk of sounding like a prick, where is this shit? The whole idea is harvest the hops, brew the beer, bottle and ship asap. Last yr I found it in jersey two days old. This yr gonna be two weeks or so..

There was a whole stack of it at the local Whole Foods, unrefrigerated of course.
