Sadly, Spokane, while a much better beer place than when I first discovered BA back in 2003, is a long way from Wallingford, or just about any other Seattle neighborhood you care to name. I can't tell you how many BAs from other parts of the country have reached out to me for beers from the Seattle area, assuming distribution is the same all over the state.

Yup. Pretty much any mini-mart will have it. Big stores like Haggen and Fred Meyer will definitely have it. We're swimming in the stuff.

Thanks, but nope. A: not interested in the beer anymore. B: Not coming anywhere near agreeing to those terms.

I'm usually like a big friendly Lab, but, when the need arises, I am also that tailless Rottweiler whose biggest joy in life is taking a bite out of someones ass.

Very well. Perhaps I should have known better than to attempt reasonable negotiation with a hopelessly mad dog.

I guess I should focus on Plan B: rabies inoculation for the rest of us...

Sad thing is, I'm much nicer and polite on the intratoobz than I am in real life. I'm a very flawed person.

You're no more flawed than anyone else, from what I can tell, and probably much less. The truly sad (or funny) thing is, I am myself much quieter and more introverted in real life than I am on the "intratoobz." We all cope as best we know how...

Ooohhhhh, that's a great idea! Finally, someone copies my business model! To truly rock, they'd have to recall all bottles though...ouch. Self inflicted wound

Is it impertinent to ask what actually went wrong with what was bottled of BBW#5 (as opposed to what still got served on draft at the UBG)? If your lawyerly alter ego has advised you to refrain from further comment, I suspect we could all understand.

I'm amazed no one has brought up the giant hole that Melvin just put through the side of the building this week. Going to be a rather large roll up door, plus it should help get whatever fermentors they plan on having into the building, so thats some decent progress I guess.

Also the new Hubert cans are tasting as great as ever, Killer Bees cans should maybe be out by the end of the year, but we'll see. Also should see cans of their rotating double IPA, so beers like Asterisk, Shaolin, Drunken Master, should be at some point next year available in rotating four-packs which is awesome.

It is freaking everywhere, pick a store, any store, not just in Bellingham, but in Whatcom county. Just do your due diligence and check dates.

If you're talking about "Hop Lab No. 5" then man o man what a great beer that has been, there have been a few kegs on in Bellingham I am surprised Terry hasn't gotten to try any yet!

Yeah, they had that wall knocked out last time I was in the neighborhood 2 weeks ago. I envision more of a glass slider type door leading to some outside seating, but that's just what I think would look good. You may have figured out that I'm not exactly a Melvin fanboy, so I don't seek out their beers. If something is on tap, and there's nothing else that's catching my eye at the moment, I'll have one, or if somebody opens some at a share, sure, I'll drink it, but, they're just too much of a one note song to really interest me. Oh look, they made another hoppy beer. Surprise.

I can see how it would be easy to say that, but my favorite beers from them have been Killer Bees (Blonde) and Uncle Ruckus (Imperial Stout). So they do brew some other styles quite well. Their Cherry Bomb was pretty good too, and quite different. I myself don't love 2X4 but it is pretty solid nonetheless.

Does anyone know what the beer will be like at the new Melvin Brewery in Bham? I noticed in the recent Tap Trail he mentioned them making Swedish Beers in the new brewery. I read the article and Jeremy Tofte said this in an interview:

Although Melvin is known for IPAs, Tofte said he expects the brewpub will offer something completely different to drinkers: Swedish beers.

“Everyone expects us to make IPAs,” Tofte said. “We already got those on lockdown. I’m so excited. There are no hops in these. There’s none. And they’ll like it.”

Anyone know more about this style, or Melvin's ideas? Was thinking it was a joke but building a new small brewery allows for experimenting. @beertunes

I've got no clue. I haven't even seen the Tap Trail article. I know that they mentioned doing "other things", but who knows what that even means? We'll see.

Jeremy has an...interesting sense of humor. The smaller system will give them flexibility to brew some odd ball beers, but they're not going to abandon the styles that made them famous.

Just got back from my first visit. Room was attractive, but sterile. That'll change with time and wear & tear. I really liked the teardrop shaped globes for the lamps. Staff was a bit too Bro-ish (seriously, is it policy that every male has to wear a backwards hat?) and clingy (I was trying to talk to a friend that I hadn't seen in a while, and we literally couldn't go 2 minutes without someone asking if we were ready for another. Chill brahs, chill.). Beer list was about what i expected, a bunch of hoppy beers, a Stout, a Porter, a Quad, and some guest taps that are not uncommon around town. Had the Dready Copper, solid and enjoyable, but nothing special, and a Hop Shocker, again, nice, but not notable. $13 for 2 12oz pours didn't impress me.

It was fairly calm when I stopped in a bit after 4, but by the time I rolled out an hour later, it was starting to get busy. We'll try again, when I'm in the 'hood, but I remain unlikely to go out of my way to hit 'em up.

Was just looking at the results of the U.S. Open beer competition, and noticed Melvin won a Bronze in the Belgian Dubbel category, and were listed as an Oregon brewery. Did they do a collab with someone down there? Contract brew? Gypsy brew? They won something in a different category, and had Jackson WY listed.

Just got notified by the OP of that thread that it was just a typo, so, nevermind.
