I wanted to try and get some Tired Hands, Treehouse or other areas' NE IPA's to blind taste against some of these, but things didn't quite work out and I get sick of shipping beer for trades. If anyone locally has any, I'd love to chat!

Yes it is! It's very reminiscent of a NE IPA. Love it!

I work in the building. I missed the tapping on Wednesday, but went yesterday afternoon (Thursday) at around 3:00, and it was still on tap. They serve it for maybe $6 a 10-ish ounce snifter.

It was nice, but definitely served too cold and needed to warm up a bit so you could really taste it.

I've noticed that Galaxy Bowl really pops when it gets warmer. More so than most IPAs.

Is there a bar or only tables?

FYI: Binnys Grand only had one case left yesterday afternoon. And its well worth getting - just a great APA.

Also, 312 isn't a bad beer. It was one of a few that got me into craft beers a number of years ago. I rarely have it these days, but when I do - it's probably because I'm at a Cubs game and it's so much better than what you used to get there. If I'm watching baseball game live and drinking a 312 - I'm not gonna complain.

Standard Market in Westmont just put Galaxy Bowl on tap for those looking in the burbs.

Cracked one of my two bottles of Hubbards Cave v2. Not very good. No carbonation. Not really hazy. Very bitter and I normally like some bitterness. v4 was awesome, this one........not so good IMHO.

I nearly grabbed a bottle of this today at Binny's but passed. Sounds like I may have made the right decision.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's fair to put HCv2 in this thread. V4 belongs, and the rest of them seem to get lumped in here for some odd reason. If you look at Mike's SS label, Hailstorm's label, Galaxy Bowl's label, they all indicate NEIPA. Hubbard's Cave's label makes no indication. It's more of a weird product of this thread and our lust for local NEIPAs than a brewers proclamation.

If you didn't like it as a stand alone DIPA, then fine. I personally had no problem with its carb or bitterness, but I wasn't expecting it to be a NEIPA, because why would I?

I ended up passing on this one as well. I'm not sure if I'm the only one or not, but while I really liked V4, I still felt like the beer was under-carbonated. Admittedly not as bad as some of the other versions, but still not there yet.

I know Hubbard's Cave doesn't specifically say its a NE style IPA on the label but I can see why it gets included here - its as similar to the nebulous NE style IPA as any of Hailstorm's offerings.

Unless I know all versions are brewed the same, I don't lump them all in. Just a look at the V2 hop profile and it doesn't seem to fit what I normally expect in a NEIPA. I consider it more in the "fresh by" unfiltered category.

I had a bottle already. It seems like a west coast ale. I doubt it was even the same yeast strain. And the carbonation was on point.

Having a second bottle now. I'll admit this bottle is on the lower side for carb. It's still worth the money to me though.

This was a fantastic recommendation, so thanks. Grabbed a 6-pack on Saturday, and it's probably already my favorite beer from Lagunitas (formerly Waldo's Special Ale). It's basically Lagunitas' version of Enjoy By: Unfiltered (another favorite), except not as high ABV. Great stuff, especially for the price/availability!

I finally tried, via trade, a couple of Tree House beers (Green and Bright). I drank them during game 6. I'm pretty sure these beers are good luck and prob the reason the Cubs are headed to the WS.

So all superstitious Cubs fans should send me some of their Tree House beers... Trillium will prob also work.

On the flip side I drank a Green during game 3 of the NLDS and haven't opened a Tree House since.
