Stone - Xocoveza 2016

Scored a case today here at a bottle shop in Omaha.. Well worth it and will easily last me through the "holiday and new year"..

The front end is nice (both nose and taste) on this, but I do think it's thin relative to what I drink most of the time. Still a solid annual beer.

 

Wow! What a great beer. A lot going on flavor wise, but in a good way. None of the listed ingredients overwhelms. Nice job, Stone.

 

Which shop had it? Did they post? I'm in Lincoln but had to drive to Omaha last year to get some since none showed up here. This year, with them brewing more, Lincoln is on the distro but nothing has shown up yet.

 

It was the Brix at Village Pointe.. they didn't post about it, but still had a decent supply left as of late yesterday afternoon.. a buddy of mine also purchased a sixer at Beertopia here in Omaha yesterday afternoon as well..

Maybe more related to my area. But just look around. We have two big box retailers here, one smaller than the other. The smaller one is where I got my stuff initially. Went back today and they had about 10 new cases.. Yet the larger store across town is still MIA with zero in inventory. Now will they get a matching case amount? Maybe. Did the distributor drop off the larger stores allocation at the same place, some two days later on accident? Who knows. But it does lead to what appears to be quite a large quantity and uneven amounts for a place that doesn't necessarily sell a lot of Stone products.

 

Same thing happens with Backwoods bastard. Its In CA, NY, and plenty of others but not an hour drive of the brewery...WTF

 

This is pretty much on point. Picked up Backwoods last week (to my surprise) but still no Xocoveza within a 30 min drive. My local Whole Foods said they should have it this week.

 

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet. Note that you can have it shipped anywhere for a flat rate. It's currently my favorite ice cream by far:

I have! Great stuff, I ordered two pints, not something I would do again though, it was $12 a pint plus shipping which came to $39!

 

Yeah, fortunately it's on the shelves here in SoCal . . . it's so rich that you can't really wolf it down in one sitting, making it slightly more affordable.

 

What does one pint cost when you buy it off the shelf?

 

Don't do it. Sounds way better than it actually tastes.
Oktoberfiesta has the right idea about the Xoco x FBS mix. That's the money mix right there.

 

Different strokes I guess. Did both those mixes that night and liked the KBS one a little more. Both were great though.

 

$10. Not cheap, but I make it last.

 

I have 4-5 bottles I don't want.

 

Had it on tap the other day and definitely got more pepper than I remember. Still good though, and my favorite ones I've had were definitely a few months old when I had them so I'm hoping the chocolate comes out a bit more with some time.

 

Zero bay area sightings....sigh.

 

I saw it all over the South Bay, and in SF at City Beer last weekend.
