So a new Mago Tago batch is on tap at the ferm? Different name, but still...curious to see if it's back to its former glory.

PaperHouse is ON TAP today at our @fermentaria! This is going to feel very familiar... PaperHouse is our mango IPA. Brewed with wheat. Hopped singularly and intensely with Simcoe. Conditioned atop heaps of ripe mango purée. INTENSELY and progressively juicy and luscious. 7.0% abv. . .

Full disclosure: This beer is a step in better understanding MagoTago. I do think the bitterness level on the last batch was too high. It's at a fine place now, but I don't understand why it was so apparent with this last batch. With PaperHouse, we just rebrewed MagoTago, but tweaked a few critical control points in its creation. There is just as much Simcoe and just as much mango in this beer as we have ever used... it just feels better! Check it out and listen to Can! #dreambeer

Had a Paperhouse tonight and thought it was delicious. Definitely not too bitter and the mango didn't taste off at all.

    They should can it!

    People will still complain.

Interesting that they actually admitted the MagoTago was overly bitter.

Drinking a Never & Again right now and while it doesn't have quite the burn in the back of the throat that Mago did, it is close.

Paperhouse was pretty good but I found it like Mago-lite. Didn't have the thick mouthfeel and big, bright flavors that the good batches of Mago did.

FWIW I personally very much appreciate the fact that you posted with your thoughts here.

IMO the value of BA is that we all get to post our thoughts about beer and the breweries that produce those beers. As a community we all benefit by sharing our thoughts.

Please continue to share what you are thinking on Tired Hands beers.

We will never hear feedback from the Tired Hands folks (e.g., Jean and others) on BA (based upon past thread discussions) but if they are reading these threads we are benefiting them as well by providing them with customer feedback. Hopefully they will pay attention here and make changes to improve their beer quality.

A retail transaction is between the retailer and the customer. Both parties should feel like they are well served here; the classic win-win transaction. If either party is not genuinely fulfilling their part there should indeed be feedback provided.

    Cheers!

Anyone know what the "Fall Psychedelia" beer is, as teased on their instagram this morning? Could be Oktuberfest, but seems a bit late in the year to can that.

The guess is the seasonal IPA (vanilla, ginger, squash)
I'd love for it to be oktuberfest though

I tried to message you but couldn't. Maybe I pissed you off and you blocked me? I can do that sometimes.

I believe it's different. Oktuberfest is on and out.

I opened my last can of double Mango Milkshake tonight and even though it was 3 months old it was still amazing. The dry hop "bite" is reduced and the vanilla stands out more but this was one of the milkshakes that stands up really well. It was still opaque too and had not separated to become clear or a snowglobe. I think it's one of the best cans yet.

    Just a few tasting notes:
Bourbon Barrel Only Void - Might possibly be one of best BB stouts I have ever had. Smooth, creamy, not too hot, not too thin. The bourbon flavor was not overpowering like I find with a lot of the BB stouts.

High Road - Definitely not as carbonated as the last batch, but not flat. Still a very good, tasty DIPA.

The BA OV was good. It's hard to say too much about it given that I haven't yet tried the base, but the defining factor was definitely the sweetness. Maybe the base is similar, but I wasn't expecting it to that degree. Definitely smooth and maybe a tad thin, but I liked that the barrel and bourbon were up-front while not being undrinkably hot. Excited to try other variations.

I've been to Fermentaria twice for drafts and growlers, I have never bought cans ( I do not stand in line for beer in general ).

    What they do well:
The stouts I have drank were very good to great.
The hoppy beers I have drank were good, but not great.

    What they don't do well:
All formats of their beer (drafts, growlers, cans) are priced high.
Variety (their tap list is often exclusively saisons and IPAs).
I find their hoppy beers to be very similar.
They are a bit full of themselves (menu, social media, growler policy, etc)

For me the negatives outweigh the positives so I am agnostic about them. If I'm in the Ardmore area I would stop in for some beer and food, but not going out of my way. There are other PA breweries I'd rather visit / drink.

Glad someone agrees with me on bourbon void, I could live off that beer. Agreed IMO one of the best (read favorite) barrel aged stouts I've had.

As a negative, I'd add that their beers are far from eclectic. They have basically two beers -- a funky, barrel fermented saison and a murky, overly sweet IPA. They tweak things here and there and brand hundreds of "unique" beers under those two categories. Sure, there are occasionally new things that pop up, but it's basically the same things on repeat with a new name.

^ Bit of a rediculous statement seeing as they just had an event completely centered around stouts.
