would imagine it's all consumed/traded within the first month or two. and the assumption is people keep them all cold in a fridge. wouldn't be surprised if cans are sitting in a basement, garage, etc until it's time for them to go.

So not everyone from NJ has a chest freezer with separate temp controller which acts as occasional fermentation chamber?

It's funny, I imagine there are people just sitting at home all day organizing trades, documenting their fridge inventories, furiously posting ISOs and FTs on instagram, marking out a calendar with all the upcoming releases, strategizing what time they will need to arrive to ensure max allotments, and occasionally drinking beers and checking them into untappd. Modern day whale hunter.

Me to a T. That said, I still don't buy cases of ANYTHING for the reasons mentioned above. If Other Half, Carton, Kane, and Magnify have releases in a given week, chances are I'm ending up with at least a 4 pack of each. I can't fathom getting through that much beer or having the energy/cash to trade the majority of it.

I actually made kind of a concerted effort to not buy for a couple weeks and drink more often (as ridiculous and bad as that sounds) so I could diminish the IPA stock in my fridge and I still have like 18 cans in my fridge that need attending to. Too bad I'm taking a bit of a break this week. The struggles of the craft beer drinker...

Sorry, I don't see the point in waiting in line for 4 hours and not buy a full case if offered. If the limit is 2 4packs, I am not waiting and would take my chances later in the day. Do I need the full case? Probably not, but I have friends with families who are not able to allocate the time to wait and surely would love to have some. Will I trade some if I get a case? Possibly a 4 pack, but honestly Other Half's trade value is not all that great at least on BA (although this can will be an outlier).

That said, I do think a case limit is too high. This does beg for a longer line and more people lining up just so they can trade all of their allotment. Also increases muling for sure. At this point the normal releases with a case limit have worked well as most cans last well into the day, and those like many of us don't have to brave the lines to get some 4packs at noon or later.

2 4-packs, I dont even see the point of waiting inline for 4 hours for a case of beer.

    That's better, regardless of limits.

I bought a case* at the release before last - I drank them all. Trust me it's possible

*disclaimer it was actually 12 cans of DDDMD and 12 of Waiti/Simcoe - but it wouldn't have made a difference should it have been all of one or the other

But yeah I get what you mean when you see guys loading up with multiple cases. But it's like when you play a video game online for the first time. Yeah you dicked all over your mates on Halo split screen and were known as God Halo among your college friends. But then you go online and don't get a single shot off. Same with releases - you realize that you're small fry - but you can cleverly use it as bargaining power with your wife. "You think I'm bad with beer? Saw a guy with his granny buy 8 cases and he didn't make eye contact with anyone. Not even once."

I left with 2 cases and a Teku on Saturday. Usually I only get one, but Space Diamonds and Mosaic are absolutely two of my favorite all time OH beers, so I will enjoy spreading them out over the course of the next few weeks.

Very true, but FOMO is a hell of a drug.

I've not waited in an OH line in a really long time, too many other good options out there with less hassle. However, I thought Street Green was fantastic so would consider waiting for a case based on track record. Would not even consider it for other OH releases.

Yeah same - the one I went to a few weeks ago was only because it was one of my favourites (plus a variant of another of my favourites), and I made an opportunistic strike (I live 5 mins away) when I saw that the line was unexpectedly small. Still waited for about half an hour which caused me a lot of emotional pain.

If this really is a triple batch to what is normally canned, I actually think you might be able to show up at noon and grab some without much line. But I guess it depends if there's a high limit or not.

I'm going to disagree here, especially if it's a publicized release.

I would love to think that this would be true but I'd expect this release is going to bring out everyone and their grandmothers.

On another note, I only have 1 can of beer left (idk how I did this to myself) so I may have no other choice but line up for this. Not that I'm complaining

Sure - but you don't know that. I've done trades where I ship one big box, the dude sends me a box back a few weeks later. Sometimes it's not for equal quantity (I.E. a four pack for a bottle of something, sometimes more). It depends. I was just suggesting something.
