Amen... the main reason I'm bummed about Bourbon County going to 500ml and hunt like hell for KBS.

That depends entirely on the group you're drinking with and correlates fairly closely with how long they've been into craft beer. You're not going to get invites into hardcore groups with BT, but there are still plenty of people out there who would be excited to see it.

I got friends in the East who loves bruery beers. Something about big beers and cold weather.

I do! Granted, my friends are either poor or don't pursue craft beer to the extent as me, so they drink what I bring. And they love BT!

I didn't know I was paying bar prices for my retail priced beer? In that case a 6 pack of enjoy by is a steal, 6 beers for less than $20!
My issue is not the price point of Black Tuesday, I have no problem with that. It is just that I like a variety and I don't need 18+ bottles of black tuesday.
P.S. Try a cheaper beer bar, I don't frequent places that sell $10 beers. For a good IPA (El Segundo, Pizza Port, modern times) I pay $5-6. For a barrel aged beer I pay less than $10 for a 10 oz pour (Firestone, bourbon county, bruery).

I've now got 3 emails today from The Bruery about buying BT with the latest about 30 minutes ago. I just looked and it's still available. So will it see distribution?

Back to my previous comment. Do a new variant every year that society members can buy one bottle of and bam you just sold 1000 bottles or whatever the member count is at. You've also created buzz about one of your beers and the society membership become more exclusive again. It's a win for everybody.

its like a gold mine they are sitting on and not banking on. their anny beer is good, their impy stout is better, stop mixing the 2!

In my house I tip myself very nicely, even if the service is just so-so.

But seriously, I'm only trying to say that BT is not just a regular beer, which somewhat justifies it's higher than average price point. Heck, almost every Bruery beer is higher than average price point, but it's a higher than average product.

Back to your original point - rich? no. But I do like Black Tuesday a lot though, and plan to enjoy it more often in the future (always shared, or split over a few days). So why not stock up?

All the time. When I bring one to a share I open it and its gone. It never hits the table after its passed around. In one of the FB groups I'm in a guy had 24 of them at cost and they were gone in less than 5 minutes.

A stock pile of BT doesn't seem so bad considering how little I feel like stocking up on Bcbs this year

I'm in the PReservation Society but I feel you all could answer my question just as easily. I just bought 3 bottles of BT. I bought 3 bottles this afternoon and 3 bottles this morning. I thought the public release was 3pp. Are they going to cancel my excess orders? They are still a available, even after I just bought 3 more.
    Thanks!

Don't know for sure. Might want to email them to check, but seeing as it didn't disappear as quickly as expected, I'd be optimistic. But again, check with them. [email protected]

Generally speaking, my opinion is that all beers are at their best when the brewer releases them. At best they hold their own at as they age, yes they change, but don't improve.

For what its worth, I tried BT 2011, 2012, 2013 tonight and have to say, these beers have aged very well. In particular, 2012.

Went to session 2 of the BT Event tonight. I thought the Peach Cobbler BT, 2011 Chocolate Rain, and BT Reserve were my favorites. Great little event. Despite getting there an hour and some change late (my stupid job!), we were able to try just about everything (but maybe 4 beers). Missed some of the food, which was out by the time we got there, but pours were easy, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Thanks Bruery!

I don't know, I feel like breweries feel obliged to cover their asses by saying "we release when best," but I do believe some beers mature well in bottle. Case in point, I've had a couple bottles of 2012 White Oak this year and I think it's way better than this year's White Oak (which is still great)... the problem is, it's almost impossible to know if the base beer was identical. On the other hand, I thought the rye barrel Sucre I got at the Archiversary sale was better than the rye barrel Bois. Was the original beer better, or is Bois rye past peak? Or some other variable? You look at the barrel Deschutes beers, and they label a "best after" date suggesting that aging is ideal.

I think john0721 would probably agree with me that you should buy beers based on how good they are now, and not count on them aging well - that should just be a bonus. And in the mean time, watch boards like this to see what people say about heir experience cracking different vintages. One recent Bruery, I think Poterie, literally said "will age gracefully for decades" so check the back of the bottle for that guidance as well.

You should be fine. It was my understanding that PS gets 3 in their allotment (1 for Q4 and 2 additional, if purchased) and the public sale is open to everyone, including society members.
