I regularly go to Spirits Unlimited in Red Bank, Wegman's in Ocean, and Shrewsbury Wine and Liquor in Shrewsbury, and have never seen a Carton product on the shelf.

does anyone know if there's any other rumored big stout release anticipated for remainder of the year? Are we now back to the next ANTEAD discussions or are we too early for that still?

Honestly, I didn't know "asking your parents to buy you beer" was still a thing past the age of like 17 or so :stuck_out_tongue:

My younger brother works at Wegmans in Ocean and they do get it but it flies off the shelf.

Didn't want to shout out my little secret but Shrewsbury WaL definitely gets Carton. They got Reg Coffee, and they had Odub last week. Source: I bought a 4pack. Sometimes it's on the shelf in the back, sometimes they don't put it on the shelf but the guy there is always happy to sell some if he has it - no holding for VIPs or whatever. They also regularly have Boat for fills.

Too early and I don't want to get all fired up. I don't think we see this beer before the holidays this year.

I was in Warwick last weekend and stopped in the Craft Beer Cellar, which is a nice bottle shop. I didn't realize until looked at the map later just how close I was to Rushing Duck. Now I really want to get up there. I think I also live closer to R.D. than to Carton, at least as the crow flies, and definitely closer than to Kane.

I love the vibe in their taproom. It is just chill. And the beer is top notch. As a bonus you just might get to meet @cavedave .

And see the RD thread, dont forget to stop at Eddie's Roadhouse

Let's make a game of seeing how long we can go without doing that

I say we start speculating about what we can complain about regarding the release.
Let me be the first to say that unless I get double the amount of bottles I want, they seriously mishandled the release.

I'm just hitting f5 over and over again in case it pops up on brown paper tickets

I will say I thought the lottery wound up being the fairest smoothest way to handle it, although it was probably the most work for the brewery.

Whole heartedly disagree. Line them up and if needed hire some security detail to keep the order. Be organized and set up lines. May not be a bad idea to make one line for a window of time and do a second later opening for tasting and growler fills. Dedicate the first part of the day to bottles or even do the release earlier in he day. There are ways to manage it and make it smooth but it starts with them acknowledging what they really have on their hands. I can't handle seeing Michael Kane walking outside with that dumbfounded look on his face again.

Lottery style just opened it up to way to many people who otherwise wouldn't go and don't support the brewery in any other way. I'm sorry, but I don't mind a well organized event and have met many great people this way. I'll forever be in this, "camp."

Lottery tickets with every growler fill throughout the year?

agree to disagree with you. I lost out on the lottery but was ok with the way it was run. Not everyone who supports the brewery has the lifestyle that affords them to camp out for hours for a beer they enjoy.

I would think a lottery that you have to sign up for in person could be an idea. Prevents the overnight camping and does benefit those who support the brewery.

Love that idea. Except it hurts people that support the brewery throughout NJ by buying their beer on tap and growler fill stations.

Ha same for me. Really, anything works for me and if I get it I get it, if not, oh well. There will always be another beer. Kane has to do whats best for their business.

That was at least semi-facetious. I don't see them going to any sort of club or loyalty reward anytime soon. I thought brown paper tickets was the worst solution fwiw.

Couple of thoughts about future ANTEAD releases...

    * Keep the online ticket ordering. BPT didn't do well with traffic, maybe go the route of EventBrite, or try BPT again if they made some modifications to their system with traffic and volume.
    * Online tickets make it easier (easier, I mean less for all to worry about with lines, camping, neighboring businesses, line bottle shares, weather, etc.) for everyone involved, BUT have the ticket window open only a few days max, before the release. Keep the proxy policy status quo.
    * Timed bottled pick ups to give people the opportunity to sample a few taps and/or purchase other fills, merchandise, pours, etc. without sacrificing their spot on the line. Each ticket gives the holder a 1-hour window to pick up their bottles. Timed bottle pick ups should reduce overall volume on site to give everyone a more enjoyable experience and would even give those working the release time to reorganize, recalibrate, etc.

I'm aware no method is perfect and there are legitimate pros/cons for all viable options.
