    Hi guys,

I'm going to be headed to Brussels November 10-13, and will be obviously attending the open brew day/the moeder 10th anniversary that evening. I was wondering if anyone else was going/planning to be around during that time period, as I'd love to share some bottles at moeder/DHVL/cantillon/3F etc etc. let me know if anyone is planning on going...feel free to pm me! can't wait to try the cantillon anniversary beer for moeder.

    cheers!
    Nick

If you've never been to Belgium for Remembrance Day (November 11th), it's a substantially more important holiday there than it is here in the US (Veterans Day).

Many shops, stores, etc. will be closed. Banks will be closed.

Just something to keep in mind as you travel around.

yep--appreciate the heads up. Have been reaching out to bars/breweries/shops that i was planning on visiting to figure out who will be open to make sure i don't mess up scheduling. would have been quite frustrating to show up somewhere that was closed haha.

Remembrance Day's the reason why I'm staying in Paris on Nov 11 and why I went to Maastricht last year.
unless you're going to ceremonies in West Flanders, you probably don't want to be stuck in Belgium

is there a reason other than places being closed? I don't have much optionality to leave the city just for the day, and I guess as long as 3F/Moeder are open (which i've confirmed they are) it shouldn't be too bad, but i've never been there for it...

i've never been there for it. Moeder may be open. 3F surprises me. thought he said he was unlikely to open.
if you had the time and means, the 90 min train to Maastricht is worth it. 1 day/night there is perfect or even a late night train ride home. so underrated. not sure what you plan on doing, but sitting on a bar stool for 15+ hours really seems to be a bit too boring for me.

yeah, 3F said they would be open yesterday then responded again today and said they'd actually be closed. gonna look into maybe leaving belgium for the day i think...

You may want to check road closures (especially in Brussels) for parades, gatherings, etc. as well. Driving there is rarely fun and unexpected detours can make it very difficult.

again, 90 min by train to get to Maastricht. you can drink some really nice bottles at Cafe Frappe and eat really fucking well in that city.

cheers thanks, will look into this! cantillon is also closed, so really looking like it would just be sitting at moeder all day if not...which i'd prefer not doing

Is de Heeren also closed on the 11th? It's not mentioned on their website. But I've been so unlucky lately with their opening hours...
Anyway, I will be at Cantillon also for the open brew day. They will do the same as before Zwanze, the 2nd floor temporary bar will be opened with some special stuff available.
I often come to Cantillon on my own, order a bottle and share it with whoever want to, it's usually very easy to meet people there.
