Pilsner love is around! I just prefer more of a traditional Czech or German approach when it comes to that style...not something with pineapple in it :grinning: Call me a purist but I just can't get into that style with fruit flavors added.

Regarding the Fan's Choice 2017 voting; I'd like to give my shamelessly biased opinion, as the creator and brewer of "I Got 5 On It"....This was my first recipe that I made for Short's roughly 4 years ago, and I think it's an excellent American IPA. It's received a 3.94 out of 5 average on Untappd (174 votes), and both times it's been on tap at the Pub, it has sold very well. I'm really proud of this beer, and I think the people of Short's distribution reach will enjoy it thoroughly. That is all, Live long and prosper.

Pinepapple may have lost the woman vote because of the ... err ... um ... connotation or urban myth that pineapple affects a man's naughty businesss.

    Dear @coolhandwuke,

It's very noble that you "shamelessly" make your case for everyone to vote for your beer, afterall, you created the recipe and presumably you also love the beer's taste so that you want everyone to enjoy your 'baby' as much as you do. However, I'm going to play the role of a realist here and state that this contest should be voted on by only those beer drinkers who have visited the pub and tasted all four of these beers so that a fair comparison is made and a true winner will evolve. (Two of them have been available only in the pub, thus many of us are blindly trying to make a choice.)

Oh, the rest of us could vote on our favorite styles of these 4 beers, but since two of the voting options are pilsners, we can't vote for that style since only one beer of these two can possibly be considered a true example of that style, thus voter confusion and grounds for throwing out the entire ballot.

The rest of us could turn this into a popularity contest for the promoters of the two voting leaders, your's and the Pineapple Pilsner which is being heavily promoted by @HopHeadHerman who is a popular participant in this Great Lakes forum. For years, he has provided us with a wealth of information to keep us informed on new Short's releases, etc. so it's logical that we'd support his 'baby' in our voting. That puts you in second place. So I ask, what have you done for us to cause us to vote your way?

But I'll offer you a reprieve. I have no clear choice in my voting preference because I will drink anything from you guys that shows up on my favorite store's shelf, and I think many others are in the same boat. So another point can be made here, at least for many of us who have no clear favorite.....we can be bribed. There is still time to vote (until the end of the day, Nov. 6th), therefore, if you can arrange to send free beer to those of us who commit to this dastardly deed, we'll do all that we can to stuff the ballot box in your favor by the deadline. :grinning:

    Respectfully a fanboy,
    Mothergoose03

@Mothergoose03, Thank you for the novel. As a good friend of @HopHeadHerman, I don't want this to become a popularity contest, nor do I think that should be the basis of casting ones vote... I just like my beer, and I think others will too. Michigantuan is also mine, and that will be my first recipe to make it to bottling, as I tend to lean towards the more crazy/experimental/nearly impossible to do in large quantity beers.(Cone Thugs, Gitchy Gitchy Ooh La La, The Upside Down, Tribe Called Zest) It's been a big goal of mine to get a recipe of mine on the bottling schedule, so i'm overjoyed Michigantuan made the cut, and now i'm just being greedy and wanting more. Actually I've somewhat gave up on "promoting" people to vote for 5 On It...But my fiance "Campaign Manager" is shamelessly getting the word out to everyone she knows......I can promise you one thing...The label for "I Got 5 On It" will be equally as tasty, as the beer....And "I Got 5 On It" will give you special powers, and make you more good looking....Maybe.

I like the 'good looking' part, but not the 'Maybe.' But you do have an impressive cast of characters in your portfolio, and that one-ups you over @HopHeadHerman. My vote is still available, but I probably shouldn't be watching my mailbox, huh? :stuck_out_tongue:

You. You make some good stuff . Personally eagerly awaiting Michigantuan, along with Belgian ales, cherry ales are my jam.
Also eagerly awaiting hearing the varied pronunciations of "Michigantuan. "

    Just announced , Double Magician!

"Elk Rapids, MI – Short’s Brewing Company announces the distribution of a new seasonal beer, The Double Magician. A double version of staple brew and fan favorite, The Magician, The Double Magician is slated to be released on Halloween.

The Double Magician (8.1% ABV – 49 IBU) is a Double London-Style Red Ale. Deep mahogany in color with an off white head, The Double Magician has aromas of toffee, light citrus, and just a hint of roast. The Double Magician is medium-bodied with flavors of raisin, toffee, and a slight hop bitterness. The finish is balanced and dry."

Anybody in the Redford area still looking for Bourbon Huma , Keg and Wine on Beech had a bottle . It's on the barrels by the front counter, by the Backwoods Bastard. $18.99 , too rich for my blood.

Jesus. Totally inconsistent pricing on this, ranging from $12 to over $20 (or so I hear in Brighton).

    This election is rigged.

I Got Five on it must be getting tons of repeated votes from the brewer's family.

After much reflection while bowing to the north, I saw a green wavy lighted 'sign' in the sky that told me what my vote must be. My pondering has caused me to realize that you are one of the holders of a Doctor of Hopology degree at Short's, thus without ever tasting this beer and trusting your impeccible credentials, I have chosen to vote for "I Got 5 On It" as a personal way to say Thank You for all of the great beers that you have helped push out the door at Short's. (It also helped when I realized that the only other pilsner that I've ever had with pineapple in it, I didn't care for anyway.) The vote is cast!
