Had this next to Born Yesterday and BY is significantly better, a bit underwhelmed by Victory.

I bought a 4-pack at my local Wegmans last Sunday (King of Prussia). My wife drank 3 of the bottles (I assume that she liked this beer). I drank 1 bottle and it had too much of a vegetal flavor for my palate.

    Cheers!

That's been part of it's flavor profile since the beginning. I've always found it a nice addition. I wish it came in a 12 pack.

Interesting, nothing in the Lehigh Valley yet but thanks for the reply. I got that vegetal flavor in the Manayunk wet hop beer last year and didn't love it, sounds like I'll pick up a single first!

I thoroughly enjoyed three of the four I picked up Wednesday... The only problem with the last one is I didn't drink it yet..

Do you get the vegetal flavor(s) only with the Victory or does it show up in others you've tried as well?

Tom, I have not had too many Wet Hopped beers this year (yet) but based upon my memory of past Wet Hopped beers the Victory Harvest Ale has the most vegetal quality of any of the Wet Hopped beers that I have drank.

I 'road tested' my homebrewed Wet Hopped beer a couple of day ago and in its young state it has a tiny bit of vegetal quality; basically zero in comparison to Victory Harvest Ale.

    Cheers!

Do not trust beer finder on Victory website to get this beer. Looked today and it gave me two obscure stores as the only places that had Harvest Ale within 50 miles of Catonsville. Stopped in Perfect Pour on way to Friscos for dinner and picked up two four packs from the multiple cases they had on floor. Perfect Pour not on Victory website as having their beer. Excellent as always and worth the detour.

I picked up a 4 pack and have enjoyed it thus far and thought that the label was pretty spot on with the tea like quality description.

Now that I've had a couple of this year's version I think I know which part of the flavor profile you don't care for. It is definitely more noticeable this year than it was with the 2014 version. While I don't find it off putting it is not something I want to go looking for more of in other beers and I certainly would not want more than one bottls of this year's in a single evening the way I did with the 2014 version.

Jack, I thought last years had a much larger vegetal quality than this years. I loved this years, the Citra really pumps out the citrus and the vegetal was toned down a lot. I had it on tap at the brewpub and thought it was fantastic.

I liked the 2015 better, also it would be nice if they can get this out to the east coast distributors quicker so it's super fresh when we drink it. By the time it hit the bottle shops in my area it was almost 3 weeks old. Born Yesterday was wayyyy better.

I thought 2016 was very good, a step below Founders and BY but very enjoyable. There is a unique taste to the Victory, I'm assuming this is the vegetal quality some are referring to. I liked it, but I could also see it turning others off.

So does this usually not get wide distribution like their other offerings?

To me, this year's Harvest Ale was a disappointment. Finished the 4-pack but I have zero interest in drinking this beer again.

What was the specific cause of this disappointment?

    Cheers!

I had one last night. Was a little disappointed as well. Tasted a bit on the malty side to me. I don't remember it being that way last year.

Too malty for my palate, and got a bit of 'weed'/earthy hop notes which I do not find particularly pleasant. I just thought overall it did not taste balanced, nor the flavors favorable.
