Yeah, DH just was released a few weeks (month?) ago--I picked up some Safety Meeting for old time's sake.

A lot of the local Nashville area breweries don't stay open late. I was told one time this is because when they are out trying to sell their beers to accounts, they don't won't their taproom to be seen as competition.

Whether this is true I don't know. But it sounded reasonable.

    Thanks for the input.

If it's solely based on that reasoning, that doesn't make sense at all. Granted, I don't know anything about any of their finances, but if you want to grow, you want to expose your business to as many people as possible.

Based on your quote, perhaps they meant they don't have the capacity to do both?

(Regardless of anything closing at 8pm on a Saturday still seems a little odd to me)

Naw, we're just behind the times. We're getting there though.

Hi HopSavant, welcome to Tennessee. It's a great time to be a beer lover in TN, with all the new local breweries opening and all the other great beer flooding into our state.

Although we recently expanded our hours (Wed-Fri 3-9 PM, Sat 11 AM- 9 PM), we do close earlier than most of the bars and restaurants around us. We do think of our taproom as a way to connect with the people that want to take a tour, or taste all of the beers we make in one place, or to just hang out with friends without TVs or loud music to distract. It's worked fine for thirteen years.

I throw another vote in the hat for Mantra. Great people and beer.

I also think taprooms close early because they don't want the late-night bachelor(ette) party crowds.

Hi everyone - I'm headed down to Franklin this weekend....looking for some advice. Haven't been through the Nashville area in a couple years. For bottles, would everyone recommend a stop at Red Dog in Franklin versus Craft Brewed or the Frugal McDoogal in the Gulch? And for a brewery taproom....yazoo or mantra? Looks like Yazoo has some of their sours on. Not sure they'll hang around until Friday but if they do, I'd be inclined to go there I think.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I've only can vouch for Red Dog and Mantra (I'm new here and only have been to these thus far) but there's a lot of helpful people here that can chime in with a more definitive opinion.

@ryanwbrodie - we usually have three taps dedicated to our Embrace the Funk line - check our FB page or untappd for the current beers on tap.

Great, thanks! Definitely planning on stopping by Friday afternoon. Looks like there are a few sours currently being sold to go in bottles. Is that common as well? Or are these usually draft only in the taproom?

Right now, we have some Zure Bruine and Deux Rouges in 750 ml bottles, and Delicieux and Blood Orange Berliner in 12 oz bottles. Email us at [email protected] for more info,

I don't know what the ABV limits are for bottle sales in Nashville or TN but (if they can sell) are there any bottle shops that are going to be doing Bourbon County releases? I will be in town for Thanksgiving and wanted to check around.
