huh... that's really odd. it was written on one of their website blog posts a few days ago about it dropping Friday, now I can't find it..

BUT, if you look on their beer page, all the way at the bottom.

Octavia Brett IIPA: "THE FORMULA IS SIMPLE: BON BON IIPA + our proprietary Brett yeast strain = OCTAVIA. Tropical fruit, stone fruit, citrus fruit. Your basic fruit salad in a pint glass with aromatics to match."

Ah I see it now. Checked the on-tap page and didn't scroll down enough on the beer page. Worst case scenario I leave with a fresh growler of Mo Shuggie so even if they've pushed it back a bit I'll be a happy camper. Throw in a stop at Industrial Arts and it'll be a hell of a night.

this mo shuggie batch they said is small... does that mean it won't hit distro at all?

it will probably hit distro if it doesn't sell out at the brewery before their next bottling run.

i wish they bottled the last batch (the very small one) of Bon Bon and not this most recent batch... there are going to be a lot of very disappointed people finding this batch of Bon Bon bottles at liquor stores. you can read fine print right through the beer and bottle, absolutely no dregs anywhere to be seen.

I went last night and picked up a bubblegum flavor from forty things,
Not my favorite IPA by them very simple and bland. Mo shug was nice. I agree bon was clear and not the same beer I'm use to seeing. Softly spoken was okay

hopefully they can get SSMS back to where it was on the first batch, that shit was straight orange juice flavored milk. as soon as they made it their year round flagship IIPA it fell WAY off.

Somewhat unrelated, but has anyone ever seen a single-store allocation of SingleCut like this in the city?

Agree on BonBon. It was clear and not at all the same beer it was the last few batches.

$80 a case is $6.60 a bottle as opposed to the $10 or so at shops...might have to visit the brewery for this one.

Is this going for 80$ a case at the brewery? That would be an amazing steal for this beer.

Maybe it was a typo in the post? The also posted in the comments that it would be $8 a bottle at the taproom.

Wow, im normally hating on them for their pricing. But 8$ for a year long barrel aged stout is pretty solid.

i don't think this response makes me feel any better about it though... they are suggesting that they have no idea why this batch of Bon Bon was completely clear, but yet they still released it in huge amounts? It's not like it just wasn't hazy, it tasted very different than every other batch of Bon Bon I've had too. i don't know why some breweries hesitate to dump batches if the end-result is not what they intended... i mean I get the short-term, money money money. but you may tank future sales because some people don't look back after a sub-par experience.

i hope we don't have to expect this type of thing happening to random batches of their beer going forward. There are going to be a lot of upset people getting these Bon Bon bottles from liquor stores, some may never grab another bottle of SingleCut again :/
