saw that, about Harriet. Kinda sucks, I enjoyed their space and beers, and we'll miss them in the neighborhood.

I had heard this was coming, but it's still depressing. It is much worse losing a brewery because of something like this than poor quality or mismanagement.

Yeah, they were my local as well. I guess Northbound is probably the closest now, but having to cross Hiawatha makes it seem so much farther.

Sad news for a whole lot of people I know.

Don't be so sure that mismanagement isn't to blame, and the relocation story is simply them trying to save face. I've had a handful of friends work there, and the general consensus is that the working conditions were awful.

Edit: I in no way am happy Harriet is closing. I always liked their beers. I simply wish they would have pulled things together from a business stand point.

This past spring I was sent plans for a completely renovated Seestedt's building with the intent for a brewery on the 1st floor/basement. The carpet store is still open, though, so no idea when they plan to start.

I have no idea about the working conditions/business management there, but I know the relocation thing is the real deal--Patrick's Cabaret had to shut down & try to relocate, and the Hub bike coop has been trying to raise funds to buy their space to avoid being displaced.

Thanks for the info. I guess the relocation was the final straw that caused a conclusion that has seemed inevitable for awhile now.

One of the more ambitious projects for sure. The guy seems like a nutcase (doesn't wear shoes?) but he's got some pretty well-respected friends willing to back him.

Reminds me of the initial plan for that brew farm in Waseca - I think they wanted to grow all the hops and wheat on-site. Did that ever happen?

Half Pint Brewing Company is (maybe?) a couple of years behind schedule:

Whoa, was confused for a second there with "Half Pint" as "Half Pints" is in Winnipeg.

Sure. I wondered about that when I first contacted Mike. He's originally from Portland, so he wasn't aware of the nearby-Canadian brewery of the same name. At any rate, with 8,000* breweries in North America, there are bound to be a few sound-alikes.
The one that chaps my hide the most is The Cold Spring Brewery. Don't they know that there's already a Gluek's Third Street Cold Spring in Minnesota? :grinning:

...and not to say I think Footjoy guy can and should try to pull off what he is proposing BUT if anyone has the means to attempt this wouldn't someone whose already developed a successful farm growing heirloom and exotic grain be the right person to try?

Just drove by Tanzenwald Brewing in Northfield. Windows went in today on the corner I assume is the future brewhouse. They've been working on the front door a little, too. The outside looks to be close to getting close to finish (I have no idea). They've reroofed it, put up some kind of new metallic exterior on two-thirds of the building and replaced windows. They had also added on to the building, so they've accomplished a lot since they started. I think the inside is still gutted. Last I heard, they were shooting for late winter/early spring for opening.

Hey, Reece here! I remember talking with you guys. Thanks for the positive review! I just wanted to correct something for the record, the saison with Sauv blanc grapes is actually Angry Inch's Resolution Ale. Don't want to take credit for their work. Also, Sunken City is my favorite beer from Insight and I've definitely had more than a few! It was your fourth brewery, so I understand if your notes got a little crossed

So, I have had Backwoods Bastard, not sure who talked to me, but I also want to point out that maybe we got confused with Angry Inch again. They currently have a "Backwoods Brown" ale on tap. We don't really name our beers currently (that will probably change in the future). Also, stay tuned for our barrel program!

Cheers BA, you're the crowd I care about and if we're not up to par just go ahead and fuck my shit up, fam. I'm here to brew for you guys.

My sincere apologies Reece, it clearly is Angry Inch my friend was talking about then. I know he has been to both breweries, so either he mixed up the two or I did. Thanks for clearing that up, and sorry again!
