Overhead is definitely NOT just the double version of Head High... very different hops. It's totally a matter of personal preference which one you prefer. Anecdotally we have found that if you like one you probably like the other, but most people have a favorite for sure.

On a related note however, Hop Lab Simcoe Session was more or less supposed to be sessionable Overhead...

Do I have to pick a favorite? Can't I just like them all.
Oh, did I hear someone mention ripple?

Oh man...Ripple...if they would just can that I would never buy another session again other than that. And it's a huge inconvenience for me to get Kane beer as I live over 3 hours away and either have to get my parents to pick it up or stop by the few times a year I visit them. Probably the second best session I've ever had after Super Session #2.

I was at Maloneys Thursday. Had 2 pours and it was fantastic. I doubt it lasted the first night.

I like Head High more than Overhead, but only because I can have 2 versus just 1 Overhead.

I do love Simcoe Session though, so that makes total sense that they are related.

Stopped by today on the way back home from the Shore. I really enjoyed the Party Wave and hope they can it some day. Bought some Overhead cans, which I really like, and a bottle of Malus, which I hope I like, as well.

Easily the best Barleywine I've ever had, including Sucaba and BCBBW. Barrel character is supremely smooth. The beer has an amazing soft feel and no heat. The flavor descriptors could go on forever. I was going to trade some, but I think I'll pass on that and keep them for myself. It's an amazing beer.

Man, I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a bottle. But, yeah, how bout those Giants! At least you're drowning your sorrows with a good one.

This is my frustration with Kane. I'm a huge fan but they brew such small amounts of really good product. If you can't make it down there on a particular weekend, or on particular days, then you lose out. Living in Morris County, it's just too far out of the way to drive there for a bottle of beer. I can stop by going to/from the Shore, but I'm fortunate to be able to get what I want.

Good to hear. Sounds like they nailed it.

@MacMalt, we're in the same exact boat. I'm in Morris also and it's not the easiest thing to pull off.

What are you talking about? Every popular brewery sells out of popular beers the same day. Look at Tired Hands, Other Half, hell even Magnify is selling out of beers in one day now. Object Permanance actually lasted 5 business days so not sure what you are complaining about.

stopped there on Saturday bought some bottles, cans, growler fill. Party Wave is very very good really hope it will be canned.
Object Permanance is the best barley-wine I have ever had ... very happy to have couple bottles!
a great visit as always .. looking forward to the next

Is Kane the best all around brewery? I might just have a limited sample size but I cant think of many breweries that do so many styles so well. IPAs, Pale Ales, Stouts, Porters, Barley Wines, Saisons, Belgians They just knock them all out of the park.

They are the best in NJ at least, imo anyway... mainly because of their dark offerings and barrel program. No NJ brewery has really yet taken the prize of hazy IPA King.. Kane's ipa's are very good but they still fall a notch below some of the NE guys such as Trillium, Tree House, Tired Hands, HF, Alchemist, Bissell, OH, etc etc... Kane does have consistency however so you know you are going to get something well done every-time which goes a long way. I never hesitate when deciding to buy their product(s) I also know they aren't going after that NE Hazy IPA crown... just shocked no brewery in NJ really has blossomed into a top tier IPA factory.. guess Magnify is trying to? haven't been there or tried there stuff but always get mixed opinions on their beer. Conclave certainly has the skill to crush ipa's, hope to see more from them in the future. Brotherton also is coming out of the gate pretty hot with their IPA.. super solid

Have you not tried Party Wave? Hop Lab Citra? Hop Lab Motueka? Ripple? This little ditty called Head High? Party Wave especially reminded of some of the NE stuff.
