Not sure it is a good idea to crack a Ten FIDY as my 2nd beer already. But oh well. I have an extra hour to nap later

    This is one helluva brew...

Full of dense, roasty, bittersweet cocoa... I'm a fan of Old Rasputin, Yeti, Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, Founders Imperial Stout, Narwhal, and the like, as far as Russian Imperials go, and this is easily on par, perhaps even superior to some in certain regards. Not too sweet, the alcohol hidden impeccably, smooth and rich, neither overdone nor cloying, with an almost wood-like dry edge. Full-bodied and so drinkable its scary...

She's just watching it fill me with darkness...

    Ah, sweet, Morticia...

    Hey again BA"s

Saturday afternoon was my last sail on my sailboat Satori....always a bit sad, but we had a great season and I still have my Hobie 14 in the water, so may get in a few more sails before I pull the "CatNapper for the season! Will be taking Satori for winter storage today...sigh! My beer backdrops will now be "one mast short" for a bit....

    Tasty morning brew

Good Morning BAs and Happy Sunday

It is the last day of the bro in law being here and we have 8-10 beers to try today mixed in with a day of football and good food. Breakfast is done and we are on to our first pours and they are good ones! These beauties have been aging nicely and reached their enjoy after dates last week. Deshuetes Pinot Suave a Belgian Ale with Pinot Noir grapes aged in French Oak Barrels. Very good a bit of roasted malt, dark fruits, prunes and lots of Oak. Has that bourbon barrel taste and feel due to the prevelant Oak flavor. Next, Deshutes The Dissident 2015 Reserve. A Belgian brown ale fermented with wild yeast. Blended, 65% aged in French Oak Wine Barrels and 35% brewed with sour cherries. Very good and very tart. Huge sour cherry on the nose but subtle to taste. Tart with a sweet but yet dry finish. Two beautiful beers that will leave you feeling like a bit of a wine-o.

    Cheers BAs

Good morning, BAs! 22 pages last night! Decent. I passed out on page 20 so couldn't help with the drive to 25. Oh well, just means I can start earlier today.

Morning all. Hope everyone's feeling well rested with an extra hour of sleep, I know I am this morning.

The girlfriend and I have been up early prepping for the baby shower here this afternoon. Beautiful day to celebrate such a big event outdoors, and exciting to think in just a few short weeks we welcome our firstborn son into the world.

I felt an early toast was in order to start things off right, non alcoholic coffee just wasn't going to set the mood right:

Phew - finished commenting on all my senior thesis student drafts... cracked a D Black Butte Porter to celebrate, as my #1 for the day. Will check in later with another, I hope, after I get some of my own writing done. Woof.

Omnipollo - Noa Pecan Mud Stout.

Easily one of the best beers I've drunk all year, this is the 4th one I've had and it hasn't lost that initial wow yet. The nose on it is ridiculous!

Happy Sunday funday BA's! Aside from the awesomeness that was 22 pages last night, there was another phenomenal undertaking by one of our very own. As you all know, I don't normally do GotD on Sundays, but this is not a GotD. This is only the second time in all of history  that someone has paired 5 different beers with proper glassware :grimacing:! It's time to acknowledge and bestow upon @JakeScully the Proper Glassware Awareness of Epic Proportions Award!:grinning:
